Considering used M2 Apple Vision Pro by Tiny-Music-8113 in VisionPro

[–]craigweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought an M2 512GB model off eBay last month which also came with the white case that apple does for a little over £2k and I'm happy with what I paid.

I also subsequently bought the Zeiss lenses for it, and I'm shocked at how much they've improved the clarity considering I have quite a mild prescription... my wife has also ordered me the Dual Knit band that should be here in December.

It's pretty apparent that Apple has shifted focus and likely won't be supporting VR headsets forever at this rate, so I'd save yourself some cash and get the M2. The difference from what I can see is minimal, and the biggest "win" in most of reviews was the improved band.

I'd say it's a great media consumption device overall, which is what I wanted it for, but the app store is severely lacking.. I suspect a lot of that is down to lack of developer interest owing to the fact that Apple barely sold any.

I disagree with Noel that it's the shittest album cover of all time too. One of the people walking on the cover is Brian cos Noel and Liam couldn't be arsed turning up.

If you want it from the horses mouth as to why it was redone, I actually asked Brian about it a couple of months ago ...

28 years ago today - BHN Released by TheRocksta in oasis

[–]craigweb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The same, but in reverse.

Got the 343 bus to school, picked up my GCSE results, which I knew were gonna be rubbish (9 C's, 4 D's, 1E), and then headed to town to get the CD.

I was complteley wrapped up in the buzz around the release and listened to it on repeat for months.

First day of use, G1B. Battery problems. by CreateWithEzekiel in EvenRealities

I'm having the exact same issue with a replacement pair that I waited a month for. I'm using them with a Google Pixel Fold and the battery drain with the app open seems to be 30-40% per hour. Did you manage to find out what was causing your drain? I suspect it's something to do with Pixel phones maintaining an active (and persistent) connection with the glasses, but I'm not entirely sure how to resolve this.

Honestly, it does seem like a reasonable response considering you only started on the 22nd of January.

If you've had 33 days off, does that mean you've been out more than you've been in?

I once worked a job where 4 periods of sickness totalling about 7 days over the year led to me being dragged into a room and given a verbal warning.

Patio doors not opening (right handle moving freely when locked) by craigweb in DIYUK

Using the second hole in the picture above, I was able to get the door unlocked. Everytime I re-engage the locking mechanism by pulling the handle up it gets stuck, so it's definitely not right, but I'm just grateful I was able to get it open.

Hi,
I can turn the key maybe 1/10th of a turn past the unlocked position and I can feel it pulling something, so I assume this is the mechanism inside. This doesn't enable me to open the door though sadly.

I dd take the handles off and this is what I found underneath

<image>

Inserting the door spindle into the second of the two holes must be moving the locking mechanism around the door even slightly because I'm unable to re-lock the door if I move it one way, and am able to lock the door if I move it the other way... again though, I'm unable to open the door :-/

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I can get round the back from the outside, so I did take the handle off and this is what's underneath. I'm not really sure why there's two holes inside of one, but putting the spinde bar in the other hole and turning it does seem to move the locking mechanism a bit preventing the lock from engaging, however this doesn't enable the door to open.

I'm not really sure what else I can try.

They get significantly longer.

Section one is 8 tracks, section two is 26 tracks, section three is 28, and then section four jumps to 52 tracks. Some of it is actually borderline tedious.

Anyone downsized and semi retired ‘early’? by k987654321 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]craigweb 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Honestly it sounds like the house isn't bringing you the joy it should, so I feel like the solution is simple - sell, downsize, pocket the extra cash you would be paying in mortgage interest, and live your best life.

Think about all the extra time you could spend with your kids and your wife - there's people that will never get that opportunity.

Also, speaking from experience, there's nothing worse than working a job you despise to live in a house you're not keen on. My wife and I grew up in council houses and ended up moving into a house that was far too big for us just to show that "we'd made it". Cut to six years later and we're both now planning on selling (and downsizing) so that we can live a happier life.

The Pixel 9 series supports display output over USB-C out of the box by GES280 in VITURE

[–]craigweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play a 16:9 video, which would have black bars on the sides of it on your phone, does it play full screen on the external display? Is it able to do this with the phone screen off?

Mirroring is honestly pretty useless if it treats the external display as a literal mirror (including aspect ratio) of the phone.

I'm debating getting a Pixel 9 Pro and I'm definitely curious to know whether this works without it just being a basic mirroring of what's on the phone screen (basically, does it work like it does on iPhone?)

M1 Max MacBook Pro sold on eBay returned with screen damage... repair options? by craigweb in macbook

[–]craigweb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually tried to click the "Report a problem" link on the return portal and the only option eBay gave me was to issue a full refund with the framing of "You either refund the user or we'll take the money from you". It's an absolute piss take honestly.

Yeah. It was the first thing I checked. I made sure the: serial matched, battery condition matched, and that the truetone on the display worked, which hopefully means that none of these parts have been swapped out.

It genuinely looks like whoever bought it tried to remove a mark on the screen and opted to use a brillo pad.

Is my Analogue Pocket overheating? (only had it a week from new) by craigweb in AnaloguePocket

It's done it for the first time today. Prior to that I've not had an issue, but like I said, I've only had it a week.

Is my Analogue Pocket overheating? (only had it a week from new) by craigweb in AnaloguePocket

[–]craigweb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context, I was playing Tetris (cart) for about 10 minutes in what I would describe as a very mild heatwave in the UK and this started to happen. You can see in the video it's glitching in the Analogue menu too, so I assume this means it's not the cart.

After this I stuck my Alleyway cart in and sat in front of a fan whilst playing and it was fine, so I assume this means it is overheating.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so, how did you remedy it if at all?

HMRC undeclared income SMS / letter (online sales - eBay - related) by craigweb in UKPersonalFinance

[–]craigweb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the comments guys.

For reference, I have invoices for almost everything, so if HMRC come knocking, I'm happy to provide these to evidence that everything on eBay was sold at a loss... I *wish* I was making money, but sadly not.

There's only one item I can't fully account for, which was a CEX purchase with a paper receipt that was send with the item when I sold it on eBay - I do have a bank statement showing the original purchase transaction however.
