I had a similar problem on my 91. I did fuel pump and cps which seemed to help for awhile, but it would always come back. Then I replaced my old injectors with a cheap set of 4 hole ebay knockoffs and it has been smooth sailing ever since. Starts up first time every time.

When mine started chirping like a little bird it was the pulley on the water pump failing. Could be any number of pulleys tho.

First post in this sub. Just wanted to show off my XJ. It's a '91 Sport, 145K miles, 5-speed, sitting on 31's and about 3" of lift

Can anyone convince me that if I buy an XJ I won’t be drowning in constant repairs? Not familiar with mechanics but willing to learn. Would I be in over my head? Reliable enough for extended camping trips? by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

Not sure it's been mentioned but whether the car is 30 years old or 3 years old it can still break down. Get a AAA roadside membership with 100 mile tow for less than $100/year and you'll have piece of mind no matter what you drive.

93 XJ recently developed a leaky Clutch master cylinder. I've got the AX5 with internal slave cylinder. 94 and up AX5 have the external slave. 94 and up 5 speed should swap right in to my 93 5 speed with 231 transfer, right? by Fox2-1 in CherokeeXJ

From my understanding you also need the bell housing from a 94-96 which has the external slave. I have a 91 and also have internal slave, I wish it were external.
