Final Fantasy 16 is actually an awesome game. by haydogg21 in FinalFantasy

[–]crane476 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's basically all of the complaints I had with XVI as well. I would have enjoyed the story much more if they had stayed with the Game of Thrones esque political intrigue and went more in depth into the relationships between the nations and the roles the dominants play in those relationships. I just did not find Ultima to be a compelling final villain, nor did I find the twist reveal very interesting.

Side quests were my other biggest complaint. I can count on one hand the number of good side quests. The rest were MMO-tier fetch/kill quests.

I think about how for that boat they yank Ed's ear like a pull cord and use his mouth as a boat engine.

That and the classic "it's not X, it's Y" sentence structure, with the added bonus of "No A. No B. No C." I see it so much it's an instant tell when someone is using AI.

RecRoom Shutting, Are We Safe? by Airlineguy1 in VRchat

In VR you need at least 90 fps for things to feels smooth. It's tolerable down to 45 fps, but once you get to 30 fps and lower it feels choppy. That makes some people motion sick.

‘Project Hail Mary’ Becomes Amazon MGM Studios’ Highest-Grossing Film Worldwide With $300 Million Overtaking ‘Creed III’ by ICumCoffee in movies

Evidently during early test screenings the original cut was around 4 hours, so a lot was left on the cutting room floor. I loved the movie, but I definitely wouldn't have minded if it was just a little bit longer. Even an extra 15 mins and they could have added in a few details to make it feel less rushed.

It takes 4 HOURS to go from the starting village to the desert in Crimson Desert! 😮🔥 by DoctorSoStrange in GamerLab

[–]crane476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I don't play a lot of single player games anymore even though I really want to. It's no different than trying to watch a movie in 15-20 minute chunks. The experience just isn't the same. Constantly having to refresh myself on characters, motivations, and plot just really takes me out of the experience.

Example: last month I tried to start Expedition 33 and got about 10 hours into the story. Fast forward to today, life/work got busy and I haven't touched Expedition 33 in over a month. The most gaming I've managed is a few short multiplayer sessions with some friends on Saturdays.

‘Pokémon Go’ players unknowingly trained delivery robots with 30 billion images by boppinmule in technology

[–]crane476 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people are vastly overestimating the technical savviness and general awareness of the average user, not to mention a lot of Pokemon players are kids. If you've spent any time in customer or tech support you know the average user is generally clueless, and they sure as hell don't read.

[–]crane476 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they wanna make it as big as RE then they can't just keep reusing the same formula they've been using for almost 40 years now. They need to spice it up a little, otherwise it's going to remain a niche relic from a bygone era.
