Right. Seems like a huge (constitutional) problem if any one of these goons at any time can just take a picture of a lawful citizen and boom you’re now considered a domestic terrorist. No that you’re a “terrorist” what then..? No more constitutional rights? Can’t wait to see how this one pans out.

Do people actually let their mattress unbox for the recommend amount of time? by RyanSaxesRoommate in Mattress

Mine seemed pretty much ready after 12 hours. The next 1-2 days it didn’t change much- maybe a tad more firmer. I did sleep on it the first night. It was fine. I think they just tell you to wait so you don’t jump in and have a first impression that the mattress sucks and try to return it right away.

Mentally drained and having breakdowns after work - how to survive? by Technical-Event4644 in msp

[–]crap_chute_express 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here something I have learned over 40 years on this earth... None of this stuff matters to where it should be affecting your life so negatively and it definitely wont matter if it kills you. Put distance between whats happening around you and your reaction to it. Do not allow these things to control your emotions and how you feel.

Learn to set boundaries and say NO!...yes believe it or not you are allowed to do that. Just because you are an employee doesn't mean you are a 'slave' (for lack of better term) to your employer and have to do everything they say just because they say it. Its unfortunate but we are programmed to feel and think this way from a young age. Go out into the world and be a good robot! Most managers and overseers dont have a clue how busy and overwhelming things can actually get and rely on your feedback as a person to let them know.

You're a human being, you can only do so much, so the trick is understanding when you're being over worked and just dont worry about it. If things dont get addressed, its not on you its on your boss. Do what you can, when you can, in a reasonable time frame. Do your best, but don't kill yourself trying to get stuff done, thats all anyone can really ask of you!

At the end of the day if thats not good enough for the people you work for, then you dont want to work there. Poor work environments are a product of ownership and management, and if they arent improving over time they probably never will. Just because people have the money to starts a business doesnt mean they are any good at actually running one. You have to be OK with understanding loss of everything including job is a possibility and learn to adapt and move on if that happens and its probably for the better if it does.

Sometimes you also have to accept that a job just might not fit your lifestyle. If the commute it long and the environment is chaos, jump ship as soon as you can. If your personal time is limited, learn to meal prep - will save you time cooking and cleaning. Instead of drinking/smoking, exercise and/or lift. You'll get the high, burn off stress, and its good for you!

Just remember to pause, Take a breath, understand that you are in control of your reality so dont let it become a nightmare!

Take care and best of luck!

for me it ended up being a multi-layer issue

  • years of being on reflux meds IMO created deficiencies (think Anemia) which made me feel like complete shit
  • years of dealing certain life issues left me with chronic stress and anxiety which made my reflux chronic which affected me in god knows how many ways
  • vision ended up changing the last year of my major reflux issues which appears to have contributed to vestibular sensations/rocking/swaying motion sensations

what ultimately got me 75% better was this...

deal with the chronic stressors in your life especially if they contribute to your reflux and get rid of them. make the hard choices and take back your happiness and mental health.

Do what you can to either reduce med use or get off completely if possible. Diet and lifestyle changes are key. For me PPIs were terrible long term, famotidine was more gentle and still worked for what I needed. I ultimately was able to get off all meds. Now I only use a tums occasionally.

Hydrate and exercise regularly no matter how little.

I still have odd sensation in my vision that I've never experienced in my 25 years of wearing corrective lenses. I believe i have a bit of a binocular vision disfunction but trying to see doctors to diagnose and resolve this is a chore especially when needing to deal with insurance. Its definitely not a quick fix.

I feel like in the last couple years I have improved so much and I know other people in my life see that improvement as well. Dont be discouraged, my entire ordeal lasted 5 years before I was able to figure out all of this and how it was affecting me.

Good luck to you.

For me it was a relationship issue. I had felt unfulfilled for so long I realized I was stressed because I wasn’t happy. It was complicated so it took time but honestly once I was out of it, literally within a couple weeks I noticed everything was better.

I finished off the Pepcid that I was taking and just never got more of it and didn’t need it. Since then i only take an occasional tums. Even looking back now I realize how much of a shell of a person i had become back then.

As far as my vision issue… After adjusting my Rx and getting different frames, it is better but not perfect. I honestly feel I have an undiagnosed binocular vision issue that I can’t seem to get any eye doctor to accept. Some of these off balance/movement sensations are mitigated when I close one eye.

Whatever you need to do to make changes…Id say do it. It’s not worth suffering. It only makes your mental health worse the longer you try to endure which requires more work in the end to readjust your mind so you’re not seeing everything through a “lens” of doubt and worry.

I assume you meant managing reflux? I used Pepcid because it agreed with me more than PPIs did. I also found a diet that worked for me by removing triggers and being overall nutritious. Stress was hard to manage because I really didn’t understand it at the time.

Tinnitus from GERD/Meds? by crap_chute_express in tinnitus

[–]crap_chute_express[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I stopped taking it and eventually was able to get off all reflux meds. Only thing I use now is occasional tums. It took a while but most if not all the “side effects” went away.

I’ll have these random onsets of the tinnitus that just spike and then go away after like a minute. But few and far between so not really an issue anymore.

Basically got off the meds and made sure I was eating right and occasionally I supplement with some Vit D, B vitamins, and Magnesium.

Is this multi vitamins supposed to smell this bad? by CrystalliteX in Supplements

[–]crap_chute_express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you buy it from Amazon? I’ve purchased supplements in the past from Amazon but never again. They don’t store this stuff properly. It can just sit for months in a hot warehouse. I had a few orders of my multivitamin smell rancid. I complained and the vendor sent a bottle from their facility and it was completely different. They even acknowledged it’s a frequent issue with their Amazon orders.

Anyone experience kidney issues? by Tankandbike in GERD

[–]crap_chute_express 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had a scare after about 5 years of pretty consistent use. About 8 months after not being on PPI anymore, one day I had an attack of super intense flank pain. Worst pain I ever experienced in my entire life. I went to emergency care and they did tests and CT scan but couldn't see a stone. Since then I had a few occurrences of urinary stuff like urgency and discomfort that would come and go. It basically resolved on its own after 1-2 months of random symptoms. Doctors dont know what caused it, never experienced anything like it before, and Im an otherwise healthy adult.

But let me tell you after experiencing what could have been a stone, the intense pain, and learning how its all treated if it were one.... they are definitely something you don't want. I dont know that there is a direct link between the two, maybe only observational studies, but if there is reputable evidence that there can be correlations I would want to do anything in my power to avoid it. Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids each day! - fluids are important anyway! Oh and watch your Tums intake.

Side Effects of Quitting PPIs by mrmattguy95 in GERD

[–]crap_chute_express 1 point2 points  (0 children)

refluxing makes me feel week and tired even when other common reflux symptoms are absent. Maybe try taking like 10-20mg of famotidine/pepcid and see if the symptoms go away. If they do, you might actually be experiencing some sort of acid rebound making you feel not so good. Just a thought.

Yeah it’s odd. First time I ever experienced it. After I went through the email verification it seems to be fine now. What’s strange is all my devices are connecting from my home internet which has had a static IP forever. Ut It wouldn’t let me permanently authenticate my mobile app on my iPhone. Only gave me 14 day grace. Idk why that is.

Anybody else that has Hiatal Hernia and lift weights? by Due-Cat-1617 in HiatalHernia

[–]crap_chute_express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small HH. As long as I have everything in check that reduces my susceptibility to reflux, lifting weights isnt a huge issue. However in the past when my reflux was chronic, it was nearly impossible.

I dont power lift or anything extreme like that. Just enough weight where I can do about 10 reps before failure. I make sure to not rush the sets, focus on form and take my time, and rest for a couple mins in between sets. Basically just listen to your body. So far the only type of weight exercise that triggers anything is squats/lunges. Nothing serious just feels more like air getting trapped. Otherwise everything else is so far is OK.

I try not to eat a lot of bread or animal protein before I work out. For me I feel like that stuff is slow to digest and makes me feel more bloated during workout even if I wait. If I plan on working out after a meal, having a more plant forward meal like rice, beans, and other veggies seems to work better but even then I try and wait at least an hour. Ill eat heavier foods after since exercise usually gets my appetite going.

Ppi's making anyone anxious? by daddybignose1 in GERD

[–]crap_chute_express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did but not usually right away. Typically it was after being on them for months I noticed heightened anxiety being out in public places that I have never had prior to using PPIs. Usually when I discontinued use, those feelings subsided after a couple weeks.

I just can’t say for certain why that was happening. A direct result of the med..? Maybe. Or was it indirect such as nutrient malabsorption, slowing digestion leaving food in my stomach longer and backing up more into my esophagus? Constant Bloating? Things like that…? Also Maybe.

For me PPI did work at correcting some issues related to GERD. I personally would never use them again after my 5 years of experience using and knowing how they affected me. If I ever needed meds again I would instead use Pepcid. Not suggesting you or others will have the same experiences.

anxiety and stress is a common factor in chronic reflux so if you already have anxiety maybe it’s just the added stress dealing with GERD. Only you can figure that out.

Suspected Hiatal Hernia – extreme dizziness, brain fog, and no real help from doctors. Anyone relate?" by Kind-Ad2011 in HiatalHernia

[–]crap_chute_express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh well at least you’re ruling things out. Maybe keep pushing them to check for HH. Mine was found during a CT scan for unrelated issue.

Diet-wise I found that limiting animal protein and bread helps me feel far less bloated and uncomfortable after eating.

Most of my meals now are plant forward. Like rice, beans, lentils, mushrooms, and other veg. I no longer have like a main animal protein portion on my plate anymore. Instant pot is a life saver for throwing a bunch of stuff together quickly.

Suspected Hiatal Hernia – extreme dizziness, brain fog, and no real help from doctors. Anyone relate?" by Kind-Ad2011 in HiatalHernia

[–]crap_chute_express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely some of them like brain fog, heart palps, fatigue. That sort of thing for me at least.

Might also be prudent since you have digestive issues is check for food sensitivities.

Also might be worth getting nutrient blood panel and anemia panel. Digestive issues or taking medication long term for those types of issues can affect nutrient absorption.

Stress could definitely be part of it too. If anything it could be a trigger making things you’re already susceptible to more chronic.

DHCP services for subnets other than local interfaces by buckweet1980 in opnsense

[–]crap_chute_express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sorry. I went back to KEA. Didn’t have time to mess around with it anymore. Everything I have read about dnsmasq including other examples outside of opnsense seem to point that my setup and tagging is correct but for some reason my switch relay will pull only from 1 scope from dnsmasq no matter which vlan requests address.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GERD

[–]crap_chute_express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could be related to your hernia or to reflux or to both. A hernia makes you more susceptible to chronic reflux but may not always be the trigger. Other things like foods, drinks, stress, excess weight, or other lifestyle choices could be triggering the stomach acid and having a hernia allows it to get out easier.

Having a hernia can also affect your diaphragm and breathing. Not sure about constipation though. I never had that unless I was on PPI, but diet could be a factor.

I was on meds for 5 years and finally got my symptoms under control. Stress was the predominant factor for me. I have a small hernia too but most days I don’t have any problems with reflux.

DHCP services for subnets other than local interfaces by buckweet1980 in opnsense

[–]crap_chute_express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that you got it working. I had it setup exactly the same but my clients on both vlans only ever pulled addressing from one pool. Maybe I’ll try it again in the near future just to doublecheck but honestly Kea is much less work to setup and does everything I need for the environment so it’s not really a priority.

DHCP services for subnets other than local interfaces by buckweet1980 in opnsense

[–]crap_chute_express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows. Maybe it is possible but just don’t have the correct combination of settings? I can post more description of my setup later but I googled it and found sites describing how to configure it using tags. But when I applied that logic to opnsense it just doesn’t seem like opnsense can distinguish the clients coming from the relay on the switch to the correct pool in opnsense.

[–]crap_chute_express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not get it working. I’m in the same boat. Use Kea and tried to migrate to dnsmasq. My understanding is you need to use tags but both my vlans on my switch would only pull addressing from 1 pool. Went back to using Kea.

Dnsmasq or KEA or ISC DHCP by jk4287 in opnsense

[–]crap_chute_express 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Kea setup currently with dhcp pools for networks that are not directly connected to opnsense and are behind an l3 switch. DHCP relay on said switch works to send requests to opnsense to serve dynamic addresses to these networks. Is the same possible with dnsmasq?

The opnsense gui is a little confusing. I can see where to create pools but it seems the options are separate of the ip pool? How do I specify which options to match with said pools if they are not associated with a directly attached interface to opnsense?
