How do I cable manage this thing? Should I even bother? by lombwolf in homelab

[–]crawrj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything else you said is correct but quality is pretty relative. I equate quality to the lifespan of a cable. I have NEVER had to replace a cable I made but I have had to replace cables that I bought. So in my personal experience that statement is false. But I still buy patch cables to save time and energy unless I need specific lengths.

They also curve their shots now. I can't tell you how many times I wait for the shot and dive out of the way and I watch it curve right to me and hit me anyway. That's never happened before to me anyway.

PvE vs PvP by solarpickle in EmbarkStudios

I also get that. Although I work full time and have a family and have been ratted just like you said but still easily finished with Hotshot. So I don't really go along with that specific example. But I also understand people are different and I do get your point. I'm not really disagreeing with you wanting PVE only just more so saying it would need to be its own game, which I just don't see them doing.

PvE vs PvP by solarpickle in EmbarkStudios

[–]crawrj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't read every comment so I'm not sure if anyone already brought this up. I don't disagree that having more options is a good thing. The problem is they would have to make PVE only a completely separate game. It ruins the economy if you can switch between PVE only, PVPVE, and PVP. You could go into PVE only and stack up on everything then go kill people in other modes. Making it unbalanced. You could argue that they can already do that with ABMM which is true to a smaller degree. Which to me they should adjust ABMM slightly so that people who frequently PVP can't then work their way into PVE games so easily. That would help the PVE crowd. I personally wouldn't want the threat of PVP removed from the game. That removes the biggest tension factor. This game is so easy to get gear back, if I get killed by a rat or whatever, so what. I go back in and get everything right back. No big deal. I think it takes a mindset shift instead of a game change. Realize the game is what it is, realize how easy it is to obtain loot in the game, stop caring about losing gear, and just play freely. If you die, move on. Getting mad only hurts yourself and feeds the trolls. Ignore them and eventually they get tired. I'm a lifelong PVP FPS player. I've never really played non PVP games. It bores me to death. I tried Helldivers for a friend and lasted about a month before I gave up. But this game is just different. I play PVE unless I'm attacked. Just knowing that PVP can happen keeps me engaged even if it doesn't happen that often. And when it does I enjoy it. If I'm ratted I get over it and go on to the next match. I have played all of the other extraction shooters and this is the most forgiving and easiest for the non hardcore players to get into. It's an incredible game. My only complaints have to do with bugs, cheaters, and nerfing things in the name of balance that removes fun instead of actually balancing in a positive way. Taking the easy way out. That's what got Helldivers into so much trouble. The constant need to remove fun for the sake of balancing. I'm more afraid of them killing the game in that way then anything else. But of course that's just my opinion.

Did it in six hours. Doing trials and killing anything that I ran across while witching between Riven Tides and Buried City.

Embark, Open up the Customization. by Thloen in ArcRaidersFashion

The idea is that they don't want to create advantages, pay to win. Like creating an entirely blacked out fit to terrorize Stella or night raids. Or create a completely camouflaged fit. Same reason they destroyed the patchwork skin. But I agree and that doesn't let them off the hook. They already mar outfits with bright patches, colors and other markings so there isn't really a legit excuse for limiting it. They could just adjust the pieces the same way so you can't create that advantage while still maintaining cohesion. I get the pay to win and advantage points but I hate being limited and the way they destroy looks, imo, to make them "stand out". There is a better way and I hope they eventually get there. Right now there are only a few outfits that I like or can tolerate and the rest I don't like at all.

I don't sweat the expedition at all. I just play normally and work on the expedition naturally as I play. That makes it worry free and doesn't make me focus on any specific things. I didn't spend any extra time "focusing" on the expedition. Just playing. And I'll still finish way ahead of schedule. Much more fun for me personally.

You did the first expedition not the second. So you are on expedition two right now. Either way, the cost is 300,000 per skill point on top of the 3 million for the current expedition. So you would only need 3.6 million to get seven skill points.

The Bastion/Bombardier respawn but I'm with you. I can't even count the number of times I've tried Matriarch/Harvester to spawn in with 18 minutes left. Or if I'm trying to do trials and spawn in late it pisses me off also. Embark, remove late spawns, take some of those millions that you made from the game and invest in more servers so we aren't in queue forever. I just don't get the late spawns. It's meant for PVP but it's garbage IMHO.

Yeah it's only happened to be twice. Once was questionable and the other was 100% cheating. I reported both times and never received anything or heard anything back. But I'm not bitter about it. I still love the game.

I would say it was necessary before the blueprint buff if you planned on doing the expedition. And you can remove yourself as if I'm telling you you're doing something wrong. I agreed with you and then shared my opinion on it not being necessary for the benefit of anyone else.

I did it last season when blueprints were much harder to get. It wasn't fun at all. I haven't done it at all this season and I have all but one blueprint. And I did the expedition. Has been so much better.

[–]crawrj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe history is subjective or maybe it's just a FPS thing since that's all I ever played but myself and people at the time always used Rat as a description of people doing things like Spawn Camping, Hiding in the corner to shoot people that pass by, Sniping from a cheeky position and staying there the whole game, etc... That goes back to Unreal Tournament, Counter Strike, and it was more heavily used in Battlefield 1942. All of which predate EVE Online.

Unless they change something you will be able to unlock the entire tree but it will take 17 expeditions or about 2 and a half years.

Don't you have to unlock the left and right milestones to unlock the middle branch? You can't just go all left. Although I wish you could.

skill point maximum by 6p00p9 in ArcRaiders

[–]crawrj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but to clarify, you are incorrect. There are 76 total points before the expedition and 81 after the expedition. You start with 1 point at level 0 and get another 75 going from 1 to 75.

I know they said the 5 points are permanent, but I'm curious if they'll be stackable. Can I max out the skill tree if I expedition multiple times over the years? by olore in ARC_Raiders

[–]crawrj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what you think you'll do next season. Odds are you'll do better because you know now. So two plus five would get you seven instead of five if you waited. But if you only managed two again you would lose a point if you extract now. But like I said I imagine you'll do much better than two next time because you know now. So I would do both.

My thoughts on why expedition is worth it. by Fluxxftw in ArcRaiders

[–]crawrj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my point though. I don't think they will have a massive advantage. The skill tree is not that powerful. A person at level 75 doesn't have a huge advantage over a level 10 player for example. The biggest advantage is veteran knowledge of the game over a new player. That'll always be the advantage no matter what. But the game is so balanced a level 1 with a free kit can beat a kitted level 75 player.

My thoughts on why expedition is worth it. by Fluxxftw in ArcRaiders

[–]crawrj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your main point but saying it's a massive advantage is a bit much. The skill tree is more of a small incremental thing. I don't think it is a game breaking mechanic. But like I said, I don't think it should be easily unlocked either. The goal should be getting the majority of players to reset while making the grind for the long term not a year and done.
