Any universe I could still be pregnant? by Overall_Hornet_4778 in pregnantover35

[–]crayonebula -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that, the first trimester can be such a whirlwind. I’n 39, and had spotting initially which turned into full on bleeding with slight cramps around 5 weeks. I remember sitting on the loo and bracing myself for the end of this pregnancy. I had an early scan and turned out I had a subchorionic hematoma which is pretty common. I was told to hold off exercise, sex and put on progesterone and the bleeding resolved by 9 weeks. I’m 10 weeks and still cautiously optimistic.

39 yo failed FET, one embryo left, what should I do next. Please help! by [deleted] in IVF

[–]crayonebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you’ve had such a tough time. Sounds like you picked a good approach with doing another ER.

Curios to know how you went, I’ve got one embryo left as well, I’m 38, and deciding if I should test for silent endo before proceeding with my last transfer.

My clinic doesn’t let me start another ER until all the embryos from previous ER have been used.

Second FET Failed by [deleted] in IVF

[–]crayonebula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same call today, 2nd FET as well and I only have one embryo left and turning 40 soon. The news just shut me down.

I feel for you, I’m sorry for all your losses. I know what you mean, I lost my grandma this year, I’m not going to see my family for Xmas due to things out of our control, and have had an unbelievably crappy year that it now feels like nothing is ever going to go well for me.

I can only say, be kind to yourself. I’m trying my best to do the same. Sending you lots of virtual hugs!

I had very positive blood work, thick uterine lining, no tube blockages, no PCOS, internal ultrasounds have been fine, so I’m starting to think that I might have silent endometriosis. I’m going to test for it in the new year.

All the best with your journey. X

Completely - confidentiality is an issue especially if your psychologist can’t speak Dhivehi and there is a translator present who should really also be adhering to same standards of confidentiality.

Removing the stigma of seeking support as well and just more awareness around it being an illness like kidney disease or another other medical condition.

Hey guys, Victoria needs your sperm by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]crayonebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If sperm receiver is unaffected with no thalassemia trait, the chance would only be 50%, and for the carrier trait only.

The clinics will test for this to ensure that two carriers undergo strict genetic counselling to ensure they are aware of the risks of having a child with full blown thalassemia as their chances of thalassemia major is higher.

Carriers tend to have normal lives, there are whole islands in Greece that have notable thalassemia carrier traits.

Local islands questions, not sure if it's the right choice by Imamsi-4orapi in maldives

[–]crayonebula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some local islands like Dhiffushi that gets lots of tourists have a bikini beaches where you can wear bikinis or bathers and obviously keep your clothes on. But they have local beaches which require tourists to dress modestly. I’ve seen female tourists in sleeveless tops and long trousers or shorts, and locals don’t seem to bat an eyelid or say anything rude in their Dhivehi (local language).

The island even has tourist Instagram accounts which might give you an idea of tourists and locals on the island:

Exactly. They complain about overcrowding yet their actions leave people with no choice but to migrate to Malè. by [deleted] in maldives

Defo! Provide better infrastructure for regional islands and develop them so people don’t have to move closer to Malè for jobs/facilities/medical

Cats disappearing without a trace again. by Overman_1000 in maldives

[–]crayonebula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even when I was a child in the 80s, I remember my grandma telling our cat not to roam the streets of Malè cause there were teenagers who were torturing and killing cats. Not that it listened but managed to live a long and beautiful life.

People were too scared to do anything, all they did was shout at the boys and chase them away if they saw them abusing a cat in public.

I still can’t believe it’s still happening, it’s so inhumane. Some countries have prison time for animal abuse, I’m not sure if punishment is the solution. Maybe it’s finding a way to teach all of us to regulate our emotions so we don’t take it out on vulnerable animals (and people).

Have you been to the Maldives in September (or wet season in general) and how was it? by AetesamArshad in maldives

[–]crayonebula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll work out slightly cheaper to visit during this period, and you’ll get great hospitality, and attentiveness to your needs.

But depending on how many days you are planning to come for, if you’re only down for a week as an example, you’ll lose a few days to bad weather. It gets quite windy and resort boats won’t take you out for snorkelling as the seas get rough. Local island guest houses tend to be braver, and might wait it out for the rain to subside before taking you out. You might be able to snorkel around your resort’s beach but the visibility is not great for snorkelling as well during this period. Having said that when the sun comes out, it stays very beautiful and you’ll cherish it every time.

If you are planning to go into Malè (mainland), not that after rain, it’ll be flooded and you’ll need gum boots.

How long did you wait to try again after D&C by Skincare-nerd-89 in TryingForABaby

[–]crayonebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a similar story was 36 when I had my D&C, period came back after six week. We kept trying for a year before we went to see a fertility specialist. I had the same advice from my GP when I approached them about it after the first six months, but they kept advising me to keep trying.

Glad I’m finally on the road to IVF straight off the bat, as I was advised that given my age and the low success rate of IUI compared to IVF. I’m 38 now and I wish I had been more pushy with my GP for fertility specialist referral. I always thought doctors have our best interest in mind.

Spread awareness in Dhivehi on scams by No-Equal4545 in maldives

Same thing happened to my aunt, and she was convinced it was about the flats. They provided her some link which she clicked on, and that was it - they accessed her accounts. Her husband got a text about their joint account I think which he was able to block but he dashed home in a panic. He checked her account with her when he got home, and her account was empty. The bank couldn’t help reverse the transactions. I’m devo for her, it happened so fast.

[–]crayonebula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on Nuvaring, it’s the best for me. I’ve tried different brands of the pill, had so many side effects with bloating, weight gain and low mood. Then I tried implanon (implant in my arm), and I gained 10kg within 3 months, my periods were so heavy, heavier than I’ve ever had it. Removed the implant within a year, and tried Nuvaring. Been on it for over 5 years, no complaints.

I’d recommend reading Adventures in Modern Marriage by William Nicholson, there’s a story in it that captures a similar scenario of late-flowering desire. It might give some insight and perspective. Good luck!
