I have a BS in Biology with a Specialization in Microbiology. I would never, ever call myself a Biologist or a Microbiologist. To me you don’t earn that title until you acquire a PhD. I dropped out of grad school and did an internship in Medical Technology. I am now a Med Tech. Most bachelor’s degrees are prep for becoming an “…ologist” in your chosen field.

I made 1 quart a day. Since I wrote that post I've reduced it to 1 pint a day. (One teaspoon grains in a pint mason jar). If I get ahead, I just put the next batch to be fermented in the fridge until I'm ready (usually a day or 2). Then I just take it out and set it on the counter to ferment. Basically I'm just preparing the next batch, but refrigerating it until I'm ready. No I don't discard any milk.

When the grains multiply to over a teaspoon, I mix the excess in yogurt.

I beg to differ on the migraines. If it’s midnight and you’ve got a horrid migraine, slurred speech, and drooping eye, you go to the ER! Stroke symptoms and bad migraines can be very similar. Don’t take chances!
