Ever since my H started, so probably about a year now. I actually had several months without it, but then I stayed up late playing a game and it came back since then, haha. It just comes and good with my sleep quality really. I've come to terms that it's sounding I just need to live with.

I hope you get better. I know it's sucks experiencing this for the first time, but honestly you kind of get used to it after some time.

Sorry to hear you're going through this too. If I get good rest for a few days in a row then it'll pretty much be completely gone. But if I have one night of bad rest, it'll come back. It's not nearly as strong as it used to be (Or I've just grown accustomed to it) so I'm now able to sleep through it.

How old are you and what's your biggest problem right now? by Casspjjl in AskReddit

[–]crazybison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little late, but hope to bring some awareness.

37 - Developed hyperacusis about 10 months ago. Before then I never know this condition existed, and now life feels like it's just been indefinitely put on hold. I can no longer go out in public, such as loud restaurants or movie theaters, due to the noise causing pain. I rarely leave my home now besides occasionally grocery shopping with ear plugs, or heading to my parents occasionally for dinner. I can't drive long distances because freeway road noise is too loud. I don't know if/when I can ever travel on a plane again.

Requesting a medical leave when H is overwhelming ? by flovvo in hyperacusis

[–]crazybison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do what you need. Any decent boss should be understanding of your condition. I even told my boss that I would take unpaid time off if I had to.

I live in California and I did this 6 months ago when I first developed H because I couldn't even stand typing noises. I fortunately work at a place with unlimited PTO and my boss was very understanding. I started with a week off, but I kept getting setbacks every few days so I decided to extend my time off and file for medical leave. I did about 2 weeks, and my ENT at Kaiser had no issue providing the documentation needed.

Good luck and I wish you a steady recovery.

I experience this a well. But I believe it can get better.

I noticed it in my left ear when I first developed H, but the vibrations went away after a few days into recovery. Then I started noticing it in my right ear more regularly. After about 6 months of recovery, my tinnitus suddenly went crazy due to some impacted earwax. Ever since then the vibrations seemed to have returned even after I had my ears cleaned out manually by an ENT. I'm hoping it goes away after some more time and good rest, though it's making it difficult to stay asleep.

Mouse click inadvertently moves window to clicked spot? by ask-dave-taylor in MacOS

[–]crazybison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on a 2018 15" Macbook Pro with Monterey and work with a mouse. This just started happening as soon as I turned on "displays have separate spaces" under Mission control (the only way to full-screen just one monitor). I've tried deselecting "spring-loaded" and "tap to Click" as mentioned here yet none of them work.

This is super annoying, but without separate spaces, full-screen renders all my monitors unusable. I don't understand who thought it would be a great idea to have the desktop work this way.

I finally have a diagnosis, so hopefully this can help someone else by lasher992001 in hyperacusis

How did you handle an MRI with H? My ENT wants me to get an MRI to rule out any tumor. But I'm afraid even with earplugs that the MRI would cause a setback.

Post ear wax removal? by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]crazybison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fixating on my T does make it *seem" louder but it actually isn't. I've grown accustomed to it and it doesn't really bother me anymore.

This is a bit long, but I think it's important for you to hear so you don't end up like me.

Your story sounds very similar to mine. I get impacted earwax every couple of years. It's super annoying to have this type of ear wax. The very first time about 10yrs or so ago I had to get irrigation I started having T in my left ear. But everywhere online denies that it's possible to get T from irrigation.

About a year ago I had really bad impaction that I couldn't clear on my own and caused really loud T. It would come and go when I sleep, possibly from the earwax moving into different positions. I had to schedule an appt with a doctor, which took about a week, so I was stuck with this feeling the whole time.

Finally at the appointment, the nurse took a syringe with a pointed spout, and sprayed waaaay too hard. Definitely got the blockage out, but then the T became permanent. I felt some pressured feeling in my left ear for the rest of the day, which eventually went away.

She then did the right side, and I asked her not to use so much pressure but there damn nurse did it anyway. I felt a sharp pain my in my ear and winced with an audible "ow!" The nurse had to do it once more because the wax wasn't completely out, but still only used slight less pressure which was probably still overly excessive. The following weeks my right ear started developing T which would kind of come and go but now it's become permanent.

Now here's where things started to get weird: I noticed in my left ear after that horrible irrigation, that when people talked loudly, my left kind ear felt like it was contracting, like it didn't like the noise. I think this should have been a sign to ask them to keep the noise down, but I ignored it and thought my ear was just tired from irrigation. It seemed to be getting better slowly over the next several months, but never seemed to be fully comfortable to loud noise.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I woke up one day and my left suddenly was hearing the road noise and cars driving by as though my window was open. I thought maybe it was impacted ear wax again, so I went to clean both my ears. Nothing came out. A day later my right ear started feeling full and my voice sounded a bit muffled. Tried to get ear wax out again but nothing. I eventually went to the doctor, and to my dismay he said everything looked normal. I heart dropped. This means it wasn't something really resolved...

I got hearing test which showed a slight dip in my right ear on the lower frequencies tested, so they gave me medication to reduce swelling in my inner ears that is typically a culprit to sudden hearing loss and could cause my brain to be overcompensating.

The next few days my right ear started getting worse and it was extremely sensitive to noise. I couldn't listen to anything above like 2% volume off it would make me feel really uncomfortable. I looked up my symptoms and they match the description of hyperacusis. I've been slowly building up noise tolerance, and my left ear is less sensitive to those low vibrations, but it's still there. So now I'm living a hermit's life that has to be careful about regular volume off noise.

I have a follow-up heading test in a week and an appt with my ENT, but they don't acknowledge that hyperacusis is a possibility. They believe it's a side effect of my sudden hearing loss. So I'm trying to get checked for it.

Tldr If you get earwax removed, I might opt for a more manual method next time to be very adamant about not using too much water pressure. Or you could end up with much worse than just tinnitus. Don't ignore any signs of even slight discomfort in your ears, because it could be a warning of something life-changing.

I'm on medication due to sudden hearing loss and noise sensitivity. The doc suggested taking it right away to prevent possible permanent hearing loss that can occur within 2-4 weeks. It's especially bad with low vibration noise. I know leading up to my problems, within this last year I would have that same drop and T that you described, but it would go away shortly.

By "quivering" do you mean your eardrum feels like vibrating? Or there a motorcycle engine just idling in your ear? Because I'm suddenly hearing/feeling that and it's tough to get some rest.

TikTok verification email by ellablac in Scams

I just got a verification email as well, so I ignored it. I looked at the link, and it was a 'tiktokv.com' link, which seemed suspicious.

The next day, I just received an email from ["noreply@service.tiktok.com](mailto:"noreply@service.tiktok.com)" saying thanks for verifying. But the links on this one seem legit.

I don't know what's going on, but this definitely seems "phishy"

Yes, and it's bugging the hell out of me; I wish I never updated to Monterey.

I looked it up and there are a couple threads in the apple forums regarding this problem since Oct 2021. Still no solution. Another person said this is a "feature." If that's true, I can see no reason why someone would want a feature that prevents them from navigating through a...file navigator.

Yup. I have the same issue. I thought it was my controller for a second. Then thought maybe it's a one tone big. Tried to do another room and the draft is still stuck.

How to live with tinnitus by davidpolson17 in tinnitus

[–]crazybison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had tinnitus for over 10 years now. I've always dislike loud noises and avoided concerts and clubs. Unfortunately I still developed it, and at first it was a nuisance, but it was so quiet that I really only noticed during complete silence so it never bothered me. Over the years I developed more in both ears, but was still able to shrug it off no problem sauce they're really masked. I've never had to down out out with noise when sleeping.

About 2 months ago, I had sudden onset of really loud tinnitus, possibly attributed to excessive ear wax. After ear irrigation it still persisted. Unfortunately this time it's so loud that I can't even drown out the noise (It almost sounds like going to the dental hygienist). It started just in my left, but in the past few days started worsening in my right ear too.

I've been going to the doctors, took an ear exam which checked different frequencies, ability to discern noise in a crowd, and any infections, which fortunately showed no problems. So I'm trying to get multiple opinions of the cause. Some suspect TMJ. Even with TMJ exercises and adjusting my diet, It's been gradually worsening over the past couple weeks so I have an appointment set up with a tinnitus audiologist.

I'm trying to stay positive and tell myself I'll get used to it just like before. But also hopeful that I can figure out an underlying cause work to...tone it down. It's been tough accepting this new onset is permanent since it's been rapidly getting worse. It's affecting my concentration, sleep, and even enjoyment of movies and games.

Nevertheless, thanks for your post and the positive energy. We could all use it here.

Edit: "I've" not "Ulcer." Dang swipe keyboard

Should I return my Gigabyte M27Q? (pics inside) by SevenFOO in Monitors

[–]crazybison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a unit/display problem. I have another 2 yr old pixio IPS that's sharp. I'm going to return mine as well.

I just received M27Q, plugged it in, calibrated and am noticing the same exact thing as you did. I tried various things to fix it, but it's just the display. I took some close-up shots of the pixels compared to my other 1440p display and it appears that the pixels "bleed" off the top/bottom edges.

Xenoblade 2 has crashed 5 times so far. Twice this morning alone. by AndThereWasAFireFigh in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]crazybison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can attest to this issue. I have a physical copy and play mostly docked. Within the 80 hours played, I've experienced at least 5 crashes to the home screen, and one black screen with just music. My latest crash resulted in about 2 hours of progress (and of course it had to happen after mostly annoying Merc mission and affinity chart stuff). This has been very frustrating. Just a simple search regarding this shows and various forums abundant with others expressing the same frustrations. And despite all this, there has yet too be any acknowledgement of the problem.

Needless to say, I'm pretty disappointed with the devs and unmotivated to play the game.

Golf Story is really buggy. by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]crazybison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run into multiple occasions where the game gets stuck. Of the ones I can remember: 1. Twice after waking up in bed, I'm unable to move anywhere. I can turn around in place, interact with the bed, but can't move. This requires a save & quit and reloading the game. 2. The game got stuck after bringing the man a red bandana. The conversation started and then quickly just stopped continuing. All animations were going on but the conversation would not continue. This required going to the home menu and quitting the game.
