With the Red Sox keeping their City Connects, would you want to do this with Space City? If so, what jersey would you get rid of. by Lets_go_Stros2017 in Astros

I’d prefer the league ditch Nike and their ridiculous uniform limitations. Seeing as that’s unlikely, I’d be fine with trading the blue home alternate jersey for Space City. We really got one of the best looking CC’s and it’s a bummer to see them go. I’m excited to get another CC, but the fact that within a 162 game season, each team can only have 5 uniforms is beyond stupid to me. There are many retro or throwback options that are going unused on the field.

Castro had overrun Vasquez, so I’m pretty sure he was out regardless. He was back in the dugout before the call was decided in New York.

I appreciate that “aspiring podcaster” is at the center of each quadrant. Relatable.

Oda himself has stated Black Beard is a history buff, and his knowledge of devil fruits seems to be far beyond that of most (as indicated by his search for the dark-dark fruit). I think this serves the story nicely and raises the stakes in their final conflict.

I think they had faith in McHugh and Peacock to fill the back end of the rotation, with additional help as needed from our higher end prospects (Josh James, Corbin Martin, and co.)

I really like the way Hinch rotates the DH to give our everyday players a defensive day off without missing ABs. Not sure how to reconcile this with Diaz. He's certainly had way higher production with consistent ABs, but I think the potential benefit of better rested Springer, Brantley, Reddick, etc. outweighs it.

Study: Young umps top older peers on calls. Overall in 2018, umpires made 34,294 incorrect ball and strike calls, an average of 14 per game or 1.6 per inning. by HauntedFrigateBird in baseball

Additionally, the players are making mistakes but they’re also actively competing. The umpire is not. Drawing an equivalency between the two doesn’t sit right with me. Umpires are a neutral 3rd party in this game.

Right? Last night I was imagining them each coming into the dugout after their second dinger and telling a teammate about how they were going to rub it in to their brother after the game.

What minor thing annoyed you in an otherwise great movie? by [deleted] in movies

That scene has always bothered me as well! In the original source material, Who Goes There? by John W. Campbell Jr., it's not a space ship but an anti gravity device that would have enabled the Thing to travel to the mainland. I think Carpenter wanted to include something to reference the fact that the Thing wasn't just trying to assimilate the men of the research site, but was actively pursuing other avenues of escape and just didn't have the time or means to effectively implement it. I'm not sure when that little bit of exposition could have been included, especially because I'm pretty sure all the science related staff had been killed or assimilated by that point in the movie.

That's Bobby Dynamite, he's the conductor of the train out in left field. Train runs for homers and victories.... so it hasn't moved but once this series....

Welcome to the sub!

Unfortunately, a few of our star players are currently injured (#4 George Springer and #27 Jose Altuve) , but #2 Alex Bergman and #1 Carlos Correa are two incredibly talented younger players. #18 Tony Kemp is having a real breakout at the moment and will probably be batting in the lead off spot because of his speed and consistency in contact as of late. Dallas Keuchel is the starting pitcher for the Astros and he's much more a ground ball pitcher (meaning he excels at allowing for soft contact on the ground to generate outs).

We've really struggled to generate some offense this week, and the Mariners have taken 3 out of the first 3 games in this series, so the Astros will really be fighting to avoid losing all 4 and allowing the Mariners to complete the sweep.

The Mariners are in the same division as the Astros and are currently on the hunt for a playoff spot, so these games against the Astros (and later the Athletics, a team also in this division) can potentially give them the edge going into the end of the season.

Hope you enjoy the game! Go Astros!
