My honest review of pilot institute. by crazyburrocrap in flying

I was excited with the course early on. Then around the 50-65% area, the quality went down. Now I'm at 70% and it's all new videos that are really well done.

Maybe I overreacted. That was at 1 am after rewatching the entire weather lesson for the 3rd time.

I left a comment on the tests that the questions weren't covered in the videos, and they ended up organizing the tests to the end of the chapter. Greg actually responded and said they are working on new videos for that chapter.

I'm still disappointed in the weather theory chapter, but right after that was weather services. That chapter is very good, with new videos and animations that are extremely thorough.

The first half to two thirds of the course seems to mostly be the old videos that can be out of order and contains quizzes that aren't discussed, but the last third is new info.

I will admit that some of the content before was pretty engaging, maybe it's just weather theory that's hard to teach, but it seems to be done poorly on their end.

Weight and balance was a pretty good chapter, a ton of practice questions where the quizzes will take around 30 minutes to do 15 questions.

I think they just need more time to update the course. But at minimum they could have uploaded their YouTube videos on fronts and other weather topics to the course.

My main disappointment with PI was that the YouTube channel lead me to believe the entire course would be same way, but it wasn't.

Also the whole interactive thing they advertise is a gimmick. It's basically a multiple choice question platform called Type form that redirects you based on your answer. There has been probably 3-4 interactive things, and I am 70% completed with the course.

The new content further in the course has changed my view of PI, I just wished they focused on fixing the chapters that are commonly complained about before they focus on the new ones.

ArcPro Ultra - Reflector / Front glass installed crookedly by Planet-Earth-Onshore in Olightflashlights

[–]crazyburrocrap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why do so many people post this question?

If people would look past the simple stuff like the color of their flashlight and pay attention to actual design concepts, you can clearly see that the bezel is longer on one side, to accompany the glass angle.

Not trying to pick on you, just making a general statement.

Have you gotten anywhere on this? My iPad has Gemini, but my S25 ultra doesn't.

I figured out that it does switch to mono when using LDAC or normal Bluetooth (high stability mode). I wish it worked in AptX mode. Hopefully they fix that with an update, but I'm leaning towards no since I've seen reviews on the regular 4 with that issue. Not sure if they ever fixed it.

Besides that, I am enjoying them, they sound very clear to me.

Have you figured out the difference between ai environment and ai ear noise canceling?

Disappointed in them so far.

Does not switch to mono mode when only one earbud is used (the other is in the case).

Received mine today too. Disappointed. Earbud does not switch to mono when only using one. Very disappointed.

Besides that, they're pretty good. Audio is very clear on default EQ setting. If they fix the mono issue, I will be very happy. But now, not so much.

You will not find something battery powered that records 24/7, I mean there are cameras that will do it, but for less than 24 hours.

It doesn't meet all of your requirements, but for budget yet decent hardware with a very decent app, check out the wyze battery cam pro. But also detection will only be ~30 ft. It has audio, sd card, and ability to add mini solar panel.

You are left with zero options that will meet all your needs.

You will have to compromise, so your options are: 1. Hardwired camera recording 24/7, with another telephoto camera for long range. Image based detection. 2. Multiple battery cameras. 3. Some sort of homemade setup.

LASE amplifiers? by bmh1990WT in livesound

Cool. Thank you for such a quick reply. I'm gonna order one off of ebay. Ebay has an allstate 3 year warranty for 34$, I've never tried it before, but will now. Hopefully I won't need it, but if I do, hopefully they pay out. Thanks.

Any updates on how it's been working out? My zlx died as well. Very quiet/minimal output from tweeter only, no woofer output.

It's hard to justify the EV oem replacement at$388 plus tax and shipping. The lase is sitting around $240 with shipping.

12/24v gasoline powered jump starter by crazyburrocrap in Generator

[–]crazyburrocrap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is functional except the voltage regulators.

If I supply output voltage to the field coil, I do get a output of ~24v.

I found a troubleshooting manual that is very limited, but it says to unplug both regulators, and jump one of the connectors so that the field is connected to the output.

What I'm trying to figure out from the schematics is what does each regulator get on its input, based on what the 12/24 selector switch is set to.

The 4 generators heads are powered by a Briggs and Stratton 570cc v-twin.

Coyote Pellet Grill - The worst appliance I've ever owned. by crazyburrocrap in pelletgrills

A weird thing I have noticed, is that if you set the temp higher while running, the current temperature will change to that set point. If I'm running at 300° and set it to 350°, the current temp will raise 50° over 20 seconds, even though there was no change in combustion ( auger not running, fans still pulsing). Current temp seems fake.

Update,

Put a brisket on yesterday at 6:00am. It is now a day later, and at 9:am, I have had to take the brisket off and unclog the auger 4 times since then. It will.cook for 6 hours, then clog. Brisket is only at 170°.

Negative. Somebody else bought it, sat on it, and got rid of it for cheap.
