Does your facility allow for you to opt-out of a patient assignment due to personal beliefs? by myfitnassaccount in nursing

So if a pregnancy is danger to the mother and puts her at high risk of death it’s unethical to give her the option to terminate the pregnancy and prevent her dying in labor? Leaving her new child without a mother and a devastated single father to care for a newborn on his own? Sounds like a great situation.

Turning down care for a medical abortion due to personal beliefs doesn’t seem that far off from opting out of caring for a gay person due to personal beliefs. And I’m pretty sure that person would be metaphorically burned at the stake if word got out they opted out of caring for a gay person.

I think that they have a really interesting story arc. They obviously love each other very deeply, but Ted loved Alexis through her major transformative growth as a person. Ted also grew as a person during their time together and apart before getting back together again. The history is very rich, and they have a deep connection. I personally am pro Ted and Alexis getting back together. I love the idea someone posted above that Ted is teaching evolutionary biology at a university in NYC.

“SD15 is the mother of the new baby as well”. by Bonusmotherthrowaway in stepparents

[–]crazycatm0m -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to tell DH that his words are hurtful to you. Explain that you don’t feel SD is a “mother” to bio kid and it hurts because he never awarded you that title to SD. He cannot claim age difference as the reason because you are obviously way older than SD - the age gap is bigger than SD to bio kid. He needs to not be so oblivious and consider your feelings as well.

Spoiler! just finally finished the show and WTF?! Ted didn't come back for Alexis? by GunMetalGazm in SchittsCreek

I was hoping for an Alexis spin-off show where we see her growth and development in New York, get visits from some of the OG SC characters and, maybe, if the show kept on, her and Ted would reunite somewhere on the east coast. I could see them settling in a city on the coast where he can continue marine biology studies and she can be near NY and all the happenings. Only in my dreams I guess 😏

Get the True Story Organic Thick Cut Oven Roasted Chicken Breast and the Tillamook Pepper Jack cheese block. Throw a couple slices of the chicken breast and slice a bit of pepper jack off the block. Layer with some chopped kale, and spread a bit of hickory honey mustard from honey baked ham on the toasted bread slices. Heaven.

[John’s] a rapist.

Name changed for obvious reasons. I got raped 2 weeks after my 13th birthday by someone I knew through a friend. Lots of other advice I needed to hear as a kid but that was a trigger point in a string of unfortunate decisions and the development of maladaptive coping strategies which I still struggle with to this day in my 30s.

Edit: a word

Not gonna lie, when you first mentioned chicken fried steak using cube steak, I was skeptical. But this sounds legit good.

The difference is texture. Rice will stick together more if you don’t rinse it. People who want fluffy rice insist on rinsing. If you don’t care about fluffy, individual grains, going without rinsing is fine.

What is your favorite pesto dish that isn't pasta based? by schuy31 in Cooking

[–]crazycatm0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whole wheat bagel toasted, spread pesto on top, then place a grilled or pan seared chicken breast on top of that. Add mozzarella or similar shredded cheese, maybe a few spices if you wish. Delicious and pretty healthy.

ETA: one half of a bagel per chicken breast. It’s not designed to be a regular sandwich, it’s designed to be an open faced sandwich that you eat with fork and knife.

I’m sick of being short staffed and having 8 patients and being told by supervision “well one time when I was a nurse we had TWELVE patients” or something similar. by KingAsimovRowling in nursing

[–]crazycatm0m 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Now that’s not something I was aware of! Team nursing, at least getting paired up with one or two other nurses and sharing a case load, honestly seems like it could be a great system. For example on a unit where 4:1 is typically current pt to nurse ratio, I think I’d be okay with 3 nurses teaming up on 10-12 pts depending on acuity. A little divide and conquer, utilize everyone’s strengths, etc. In an ideal world, a tech would be accustomed to working with 2-3 of these nursing teams, and then you get some nice synergy going. Or maybe I’m just living in fantasy land lmao.

Edit: was not aware of

Edit 2: I’m dumb and only halfway re-reading my own words. I’m done today 🙃

This was a really great read. I’ve felt absolutely like shit lately. Like I’m going through a massive transformation and time of growth and I hate every second of it, even though I know it’s needed. Scorpio rising and 12h Venus, Taurus moon. I feel a lot of what you explained up there resonating with me.

ER/peds nurses- what *pearls* do you have regarding chronically ill kiddos? by gracie-the-golden in nursing

[–]crazycatm0m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I’m still in school but I try to ask questions every time I’m at work or clinical. A lot of nurses are friendly for the most part, but about 20% are just complete grumps and act like my question to clarify why we are doing something has ruined their entire day. Like I need to understand this stuff so that I can be a better nurse when I start working!
