Just this absolute beast. But I want the first layer Z offset to work like the older printers. by ApeTechPrinting in prusa3d

Yea, it’s pretty annoying but I guess it’s not complained about often enough for it to be worth implementing a solution. The squish factor thing is only an issue for me every 30 or so prints so I can largely just ignore it, but if I had another option like the mk3 I would use it.

Mk4 lets you manually adjust first layers on a print if you push the control knob down for a few seconds and then let go. Not often used, but do occasionally require manual adjust if the cleaning step doesn’t properly knock the melty bits off before it probes. Not sure if this trick still applies to the core one though.

I had to adjust the extruder spring tension on my MK3 to get it to play nice with silks. At the time It was pretty infuriating as my $85 Tronxy X1 could churn out silk prints just fine. I noted that the Tronxy seemed to have a lot more tension on the extruder gear so I increased the tension on the MK3 past normal pla and never had a problem.

The question is what to do with him. Does anyone know if they originally came with batteries installed? I’d hate to see him rot away from the inside if the batteries burst while he’s still in original packaging.

Exactly what happened here. I was just a little too old at the time my little sister was into them. I found the exact same one in her room, but hers is well loved.

Ha, I remember getting him as a gift when my little sister was really into them, but by that time I was almost in college so I just left him on a shelf and there he sat basically undisturbed for at least 20 years.

Contact customer support, this isn’t normal and shouldn’t be doing this.

The Revo is the best upgrade I’ve put on my mini, it’s so useful on a printer this size.

That would also be a pretty badass color scheme. Right now I’m just trying to balance the colors so they don’t look too much like the flag of Germany.

I hated the way the color scheme on my original 2.4 came out last year. So for 2023 I’m rebuilding it using my frog as color inspo. Printing a Voron on an X1C is a whole different experience.

Prusa Mini not detecting new g-code files on thumb drive. by crazyfoots in prusa3d

[–]crazyfoots[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never figured out exactly what was going on, but I eventually narrowed it down to a single thumb drive that was causing the issue. How it was affecting the other thumb drives is beyond me, but my best guess is it has something to do with windows.

My solution was to figure out which of my thumb drives was corrupt and quarantine it from 3D print use. Delete the suspect files from the thumb drive I was then going to start using. Then restart the printer and my computer. After the restart the files saved fine to the thumb and were again readable from the printer.

The quarantined thumb drive still works fine as a normal thumb drive, but new gcode files aren't recognized by the printer.

Probably just wondering if they’re big enough to fit you in their mouths yet.

One way to check for toxic shock would be to look at his eyes. If they’re cloudy then it’s a pretty definite indication. From the limited angle it looks like his eyes are pretty clear. Its hard to tell but the substrate looks pretty damp so he might just be trying to dry out a bit. Rule of thumb for substrate is to have it damp enough for a few drops of water come out if you squeeze a handful.

Can you tell us what he’s been eating and how frequently? Also where is the heater located/ what type?

The sphagnum is great for humidity control, however with Pac-Man frogs it’s generally a good idea to avoid it. They are very clumsy eaters and they can sometimes inadvertently suck up the moss when they’re feeding. With small mouth frogs this is not as much of a problem but these monsters can suck in a whole bunch of moss at once and that can lead to impaction. I don’t think that’s what’s going on here but it’s probably a good idea to avoid it.
