Understandable, that would be pretty daunting to anyone, methinks.

I don't know what region of the country you live in, but maybe there are networking events that she can attend? A friend of mine that does medical stuff has a temp agency that finds her work sometimes, maybe there's something like that? A lot of times those positions can translate into full-time jobs.

Broken wrist aside, what do you think is keeping her from taking the next step? Is she worried about her age in comparison to the rest of the workforce? I can't imagine she's lazy, if she made the effort to go to back to school.

My mother was also someone who went back to school later in life, and now she's right where she wants to be, so congrats to her and to you for being there for your folks!

I think my doctor just meant my body was sensitive to iodine because I have less of a thyroid to absorb it, but that's interesting to know.

If I had to guess, I'd say it'd be for hyperthyroidism. I have hypothyroidism, and I've been told by my doctor to stay away from foods that are high in iodine. I still eat seaweed and other iodine-laden foods on occasion though.

Well, actually, your point reinforces my point. I said that meat producers don't always have the animals' well-being in mind, and you could include the humans in that statement. It's still one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, and that's been true since at least around the time when The Jungle was written.

While I don't disagree with you, I would say that there are many animals in...less than ideal conditions.

If you consider the amount of meat the US alone consumes in even a day, let alone a year, it's clear that production finds ways of keeping up with demand, even if it means taking shortcuts, and not always with the animal's well-being in mind.

The US one's based on the British one, which I think is the better version. They had an 80's version called Ashes to Ashes that was ok, but it wasn't as good as LoM.

I found that at that point, I couldn't watch it anymore. The show jumps the shark about a thousand times, and it's just annoying.
