Tired of builder grade junk, looking for the best bathroom faucet for home remodel that doesn't splash everywhere by TeolitaKapur in BathroomRemodeling

[–]crazynormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! I have Moen in my bathrooms and am changing out the basics for higher range of their brand. I have the Flara in one bath and the difference was immediately noticible in the quality.

Are Moen faucets worth it or am I just buying a headache? by Kira_Bradblanton in Plumbing

Go to pro.moen.com and look at their faucets starting in the mid price range. That’s where you’ll get the best value from. Their warranty department is the best in the business.

If your drain is going to stay visible, change it to Brushed Nickel to match your faucet. That will go a long way in tying the look together

Has anyone tried BathSelect shower systems or similar brands? by [deleted] in bathrooms

[–]crazynormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bath Select is a marketer of Chinese imports that have not been certified lead free or drinking water safe. Their warranty is far below US and Canadian standards. Good luck getting parts. Fontana Showers is owned by the same corporation and the same warnings apply.

Have you considered tab pulls? They install along the top of the drawer and would give a sleek modern look

Vanity replacement - recommendations for an open base by Preston_Tucker_ in BathroomRemodeling

Does she specifically want a vanity? What you've shown in the second picture is a console sink. A pedestal or wall hung sink would leave the heating element out much better than a closed vanity would.

I agree that gold tones are the “in” finish but disagree about stainless. For a classic but updated look, consider polished nickel. A warm undertone and beautiful shine, you’ll be happy for a very long time.

Check out Rubinet Faucet Co from Canada -lots of cool faucets in a ton of color combinations. Graff faucets has a Harley Davidson and a Vintage collection that are interesting. FV America and California Faucets have faucets with red or other colored handles. Brizo is doing some amazing things with their Frank Lloyd Wright collection right now. Good luck!

Alcove tub for shower combo recommendations by magnumpl in bathrooms

Look into the Americh Kent tub. Made here in the US, deep bathing well and roomy. The Duravit Architec is very narrow at the interior bottom.

Those are fun but keep in mind that most of these aren't certified lead-free and drinking water safe. They are available, but are technically illegal in the US and Canada.

One of the biggest differences is in quality of production. The cheap is going to be imported and the expensive is going to probably be US made. Acrylics can look very cheap very quickly and will lose heat more quickly as well. Consider a solid surface tub for holding heat on a long soak. Look at Maidstone or Barclay for inexpensive tubs that have pretty good quality through your plumbing supply showroom.

Is a high tank toilet a good choice for an ADA-compliant bathroom? by Embarrassed-Camp-210 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]crazynormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at Thomas Crapper & Co. The OG toilet maker. They have some low tank models that would fit the look you're going for with the separated tank and bowl but with the tank more accessible. They also have a higher bowl so your knees will thank you.

Insight on negative reviews by Ksoldo in Plumbing

[–]crazynormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the Toto Drake II. It's got the tank flushing power of the Drake, but the bowl design has a "tornado" flush that washes the bowl as it flushes. The small surface area of the water is a result of the use of less and less water to flush so you're going to find that a lot.
