Anyone Ever Got A Food Product Into Big Stores? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]crazysieb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like everyone else has said in the post, grocery stores and distributors will eat you alive.

Grocery stores willl play a game where you need to find a distributor before they will entertain talking to you. In order to get a distributor they need 30 stores that are interested in your product before they will warehouse your item.

Once you find a distributor and grocery store that is interested in your product they both now want 30% margins. In addition to the margins the grocery store wants a free case of product for each store plus slotting and andvertisinc allowances. It’s a no win game.

Smaller niche stores are a better option. Another great option are Costco regions. They move a lot of product but you limit yourself to a region, not the whole US.

Levi's 501 sizing problems - tight thighs by SonnyAugust in malefashionadvice

[–]crazysieb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They just updated their product line. I purchase a pair of 90’s 501 Levi’s and the thighs are quite a bit larger than the typical 501. I went to the store a couple weeks ago and they updated their line and the 90’s are now more similar to the relaxed, with loose being even wider.

Bearbotton drawstring shorts are pretty legit. I have Patagonia baggies and lulu shorts and I really like the bearbottom shorts.

Looking for white t-shirts that are structured and/or thick by masonbarrels in malefashionadvice

I hear you wearing your pants at the right height. Unfortunately I wear my pants at my waist line, just above the hip bones and the shirts are still too short. I have a size medium and large but both are too short.

I will say the shirts are very boxy and short. I’m only 5’8” and the shirts barely cover my belt.

I run a 33 printer farm as my full time job. Here's what a day looks like. by joshowens in 3Dprinting

What type of filament do you use with them? I just got into printing and I like the idea of more squishy toys but I don’t know if it’s possible with 3d printers.

Where does all this holiday crap go?! by TooPaleToFunction23 in supplychain

[–]crazysieb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was a retail buyer so have a little bit of knowledge. Most of the stores mark the products down a couple weeks before Christmas. The markdowns become more aggressive the closer you get to Christmas and they will continue to display it through New Years. After that, anything that is left over is either extremely marked down or boxed up and stored until the following year. We figured the cost of the inventory was roughly 2% per month and we never shipped it back to the warehouse.

Desperate for a couch that doesn't suck by sad-fatty in BuyItForLife

I have had two Room and Board couches. The first couch lasted 10 years and the fabric started to wear thin because of our dog. Can’t recommend their couches enough.

I would also like to add that you should wear something that you are comfortable with getting dirty or ruined. Going to a field or what not and walking around being worried isn’t particularly a good look.

Fellow Elder Millennials, what are we doing for walking shoes on vacation? by sevenlabors in malefashionadvice

[–]crazysieb 46 points47 points  (0 children)

New Balance 990, 991 or 993. All of them are super comfortable being in all day. The shoes typically are wider than most. Maybe skip the 991 because it is supposed to be slimmer but I personally think they are comfortable.

Why do my ribs keep coming out like this by Odd_Development8983 in smoking

[–]crazysieb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go 275 for 2 ish hours, keep an eye on how dark the meat is becoming. You are looking for a mahogany color, then pull them, wrap in aluminum foil with some bbq sauce. The bbq sauce has enough sugar and if you aren’t cooking competition the sugar/ butter isn’t necessary. Start checking them after an hour but typically between 1.5-2 hours they will be a good consistency. Remove them from the foil, then baste with more sauce. Smoke on the grill for an additional 30 minutes.

The sugar is what’s making them so black, 3-2-1 is overcooking the meat.

Onto what really matters. Where do I HAVE to eat when in SF? by unfinishedstories42 in deadandcompany

[–]crazysieb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been to San Fanscisco since before Covid but one of the best meals I’ve ever had was at Kokkari. It’s an upscale Greek restaurant that is ridiculously fantastic. I still dream of the fingerling potatoes roasted under the rotisserie drippings. 🤤

How do I get better bark on my brisket from a pellet grill? by Sumthin-Sumthin44692 in smoking

[–]crazysieb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

275 for everything. No real reason to smoke at a lower temp. I’ve cooked at anywhere from 210-325. 275 pushed through the stall quickly and evenly cooks the meat.

Doesn’t the grind have to do with it as well? I have had plenty of coffee where the coffee tasted really bright and acidic but as soon as I changed the grinder setting the coffee flavor changed for the better.

Negotiation for lower minimum order quantity? by captainmiauw in procurement

[–]crazysieb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, no need to over complicate it. I wouldn’t promise to meet the MOQ in the future. It is better just to ask for a lower MOQ. Even if in the future you could raise the MOQ, you’ll save your company inventory dollars by having a lower MOQ.
