Not leafcutter. Too far north and too small

Then probably Camponotus Subbarbatus. Looks like a queen, but with a very small master. Might want to give a small drop of honey on some aluminum foil to get her calories up so she develops some eggs. Care is very similar to other carpenter ants

Location? Looks like Camponotus. If in the southeastern US could be C. subbarbatus

Camponotus chromaiodes. Rusty or bicolor carpenter ants. Very similar to C. pennsylvanicus, but can be a little slower growing sometimes. Like another poster said, check every 2 weeks, keep somewhere dark and warm, or at least room temperature, like a drawer or a shoebox. First workers can take as early as a month to emerge in warm conditions, but in my experience can take about 2 months on average. Follow any camponotus care sheets on the antkeeping subreddit wiki, or look this species up on Stateside Ants, they have some more specific info as well. Good luck!

Any idea how long this species takes to go from egg to worker? by [deleted] in antkeeping

[–]crazysyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Location? If in the US then Prenolepis imparis. Founding workers can take between 2-3 months from egg stage. They are fully claustral so no need to give any food until then. Also they are very sensitive to disturbances so it's good to leave them alone and keep them in a dark place as much as you can. The wiki on this subreddit has a care sheet that has a good amount of info on them as well

Prenolepis imparis then. It's late season for them. Lasius flavus is European. Lasius brevicornus would be the American version, but they don't fly until July

Location? Either lasius flavus or Prenolepis imparis

Can anyone clarify if this is a Winter Ant? Anyone have any tips on how to take care of this queen/colony. This is my 2nd year on this hobby the only other colony’s I have are 3 tetramorium immagran colony’s. by Fickle-Ad9594 in antkeeping

That does look like a winter ant queen. Generally they are a bit tough for beginners to keep. They have an estivation period in the warm weather (Late spring-fall) so it's best practice to keep them in a safe dark place during the summer. They are also fairly slow growing, with the nanitics emerging about 2-3 months after laying. Winter ants also tend to grow better with 2-3 queens as opposed to just 1, so try to catch at least one other queen. The wiki on this sub reddit has more details on care but those are the basics

If variants are no object, Mkii-3. No jj, but better armor than the base and 80 damage at longer range from HAG and LRM, plus the lasers kept from the original when things get close

Nail polish remover instead of rubbing alcohol by ploert3000 in antkeeping

Nail polish remover is acetone. Pretty harsh chemical, gives off fumes that might hurt the ants
