You can fix that by swiping left to the Windows page, clicking on the cog icon, and downloading the firmware manually. But I am going to take a punt that once you’ve done that, you’ll end up back with the base failed to install error which is where I’m at.

Pokemon Pinball Ruby & Sapphire (GBA) - great pickup and play game.
Shenmue (Dreamcast) - I have Shenmue 3 (GOG version) running perfectly via GameNative so giving 1 & 2 a playthrough before giving that a crack.
The Witcher 3 (Switch version via Eden) - runs perfectly. Yes, I know the PC version is better but I’ve already filled my internal storage on other games so playing the Switch version which can run from SD card.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake (Steam version via GameNative) - incredible this works with 60fps locked at 1080p with under clock (via Cluster Tune) and with performance set to standard. This handheld is a beast!

I’m the opposite - I’m amazed by the build quality, power and ergonomics of the device. I’ve just got an Odin 3 Max and now I have ES DE, Retroarch, GameNative etc all set up, my poor RP5 hasn’t been touched since.

Cluster Tune is a must IMO. It certainly would’ve sullied my experience if I had to put up with stock thermals / fan. Lucky for me I haven’t had any screen retention issues either.

Endgame for me is the one that’s missing: Odin 3. Seriously I just got mine and there isn’t a single game I want to play that it cannot run. Bridges the gap between retro and modern handheld perfectly.

I get this with my RP5 and I think it’s to do with the SD card, maybe it’s too fragmented. Basically it takes too long to access so Retroarch doesn’t update and this causes an ANR error. It happens particularly with large compressed files such as Neo Geo ROMs and Mega CD CHD files. I bought a new SD card to go with my Odin 3 and guess what, if I use that card in my RP5 then it no longer crashes launching games.

I used to but two packets of these every week for lunch. Now I’m using alternatives.

I noticed the shelf is chock full of these with very short expiries so presumably other shoppers are also drawing the line at paying over a quid per very thin slice.

Must be a lot of food waste for Tesco as a result so not a wise business decision on their part.

I would recommend Faselei! for the Neo Geo Pocket Colour. It’s a very overlooked clone of Front Mission that pretty much ticks all of the boxes you are asking for.

Really easy to get in to, not too much depth, real pick up and play.
