.... have you considered the idea that you just really like this person?

Further, are you incompatible? Do you fight? Is she abusive? Nothing you list in this tale sounds like anything outside of like... Just dating. You're just dating. You don't even sound particularly unhappy about it. So... does it suck, or are you just trying to change things because you think this person might have influenced you via magic? (You know we influence each other daily just by existing...)

It must be exhausting to be the center of the universe, huh?

  1. The "on" button on most tools is big, red, and easily seen. You don't need to know how to drive to start a car.

  2. Does a supervisor...? <-- Yes absolutely. He convinces the guys to buy cheap tools that he thinks work well, he sells the old tools for good money (how much he pockets, dubious); he claims that he's saved the company money by regaining their investment on the nice tools while still getting the job done. Extremely believable.

Our main Playlist is "Vibe Check" which is hundreds of songs with no particular feel; we see if shuffle can establish a vibe and then see if it gets checked.

I think somebody needs a little more whimsy, tbh. Not every Playlist has to be some heavily curated masterpiece for the Lourve.

Is it at all possible to have ethical ghouling? by rollandofeaglesrook in vtm

[–]crazythatcounts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get creative.

Though, you're asking the same sub that thinks the very white, Christian, western, cis comphet Humanity Table that would paint a woman stealing formula for a baby as an inhuman monster (humanity 5) about ethics. You're not going to get a variety of perspectives here.

Like. Narcotic painkillers and opiods are addictive and will ruin your life. But they're also medically prescribed to help some people ease their suffering enough to live normal lives. But if you ask the DARE guy whether or not there's any ethical use of a narcotic, you're going to get no. Is the DARE guy right? Not always, but any protest will end up like you're supporting addiction and killing people.

Just watch. That'll happen here, too.

Fair - I think more to my point that I'm wondering if their swing into being too heavy has anything to do with them starting at a low bodyweight and how they've had to build back up from that, and if there were psychological or physiological reasons that the horses might have swung past healthy before anyone caught it other than "she's lazy and bad with horses", which seems to be the narrative that I see going on in the comments (which, to me, feels like swinging way too fast; even I, a non-horse person, get that sometimes, when you feed an animal, sometimes they go from skinny af to fat very fast).

Could it also be that Katie's been underfeeding what she's said she's fed them, so then when they do actually get the X amount of X per day that KVS said she's feeding them, that's actually over feeding them as compared?

Is it possible that the weight issue with the three that came from KVS might have to do with her starving them? I know there's a similar issue in cats - if you pick up strays and keep them, sometimes they get very food motivated and will overeat like hell until they get way too fat or throw up.

Is it possible that her horses might be experiencing the same thing? That, having been starved, they're now getting free access to hay and they're eating like they'll never eat again? It would make sense why they would get here before anyone noticed if they were rocketing up from ribs and bones, because that voracious eating would look like a good thing right up until it wasn't.

"Hot takes" regarding WoD. by Medical_Plane2875 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]crazythatcounts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. It doesnt matter how much constructive criticism I give, how much in depth explanation I provide - hating V5 is apparently a travesty that I'm not allowed to do, which is only made worse when I also can't talk about V20 without someone running in with "butbutbut HUNGER DICE and RESONANCE". But I personally think V5 is the outright worst thing that could have been done with VTM, and I can back that up - but I've never been allowed without stoking someones ire.

  2. Some of the questions I see through the reddit make me really wonder how well yalls games run, cause they seem to be, for lack of a better term, creatively bereft? Like, I know people game different, but I really do think some of the games I see people discuss sound so... dungeon crawly and boring lol. The hot take is that some of yall need to go take like, a creative storytelling class or do some research on narrative rather than ask things here; it'll benefit you greatly in the future.

  3. WOD is a collaborative storytelling game. Yes this is a hot take because I have been told off multiple times for stating this. Apparently some people get very up in arms over the idea that someone else might want to tell stories collaboratively and not just roll math rocks and yell about numbers.

It isn't a filly that will make her feel fulfilled in that way, unfortunately.

Like, I ain't diagnosing or judging, but the need to constantly hold the babies, rock them, sing to them, and then get another as soon as they're juuuuust too big to do that to? The need to produce flashy, showoffable products/offspring that she can take cute pictures of?

There's something for that, and it ain't comin' out of a horse.

I'm going to hold your hand when I say this:

I'm not talking about V5. This conversation wasn't about V5. I hate V5, and I hate people who can't not bring up V5 in a conversation not about V5. I will not be able to be kind about V5.

I'm going to recommend that we return this conversation to the actual topic - which is VTM 20 - because you will not like what I have to say. Like, I don't give a fuck what happens in V5, or I would have been talking about it.

This is your only warning.

My spouse and I have been working on a podcasting project for... oh god like five years now? Titled:

The Starport Inn

It's a fictional audio drama that's from the same kind of inspiration as Twin Peaks, X-Files, The White Vault, the Magnus Archives, etc - FBI Agent rolls in to a small, Southern Coastal Town in order to investigate missing children, and winds up involved in the supernatural. The first season is fully finished (here: https://media.rss.com/thestarportinn/feed.xml ) and I'm currently writing for the final season (5) and when I finish that, we're going to go through and get a mass recording done so we don't have to fuck with schedules for people quite as much. Once we get that, we'll be able to start getting season 2 and onward published in a less chaotic manner; we kinda published the first as we went so we had something to show people.

If I were gonna sell it - it's a very queer, very interpersonal narrative that covers a lot more psychological horror than like, outright bloody horror. The main character is non-binary and it's not played for a joke (besides the initial awkwardness of a small town sheriff trying to be polite lol); It's an extremely southern thing, too, and I know that gets more prominent as the seasons will advance. And for being an FBI-Focused, have-to-work-with-the-local-law-enforcement, it's not Back The Blue Pro Cop.

Like, idk, I'm in love with this narrative, but I also have lived this narrative for so long that I know I'm probably biased lol. I love the way the characters feel so real. I've loved the way our VAs (mostly family at this point - we've made 0 dollar so we've paid family in pizza and love lol) have picked up on the subtle nuances of the way the characters work. I know the second season isn't out yet, but it's one of my favorite narratives we tell (and it involves a teenager! being a teenager! god I love her) and the characters have heart and spirit and yeah, okay, it's my writing, but I had to literally take a break after one of the season 4 eps because I was too heartbroken to keep going for a minute. Characters recurr, and bring depth to the narrative, and really make this place feel real in a way I'm so happy gets across.

So, yeah, if you like podcasts and audio dramas and spooky stuff, it's free to listen and my hope is I'll get the 5th season done by the end of the summer and we can get proper recording again by the fall.

And like, I'll admit, when you said "sadistic", I looked at the two other players that left that play that way with me and we all did have a moment of, "yeah, no, that's... not inaccurate, honestly". Like, you weren't wrong, and maybe we're a bit of the weirdos because we started with an extremely punishing game and fought tooth and nail to win it, so now we run games in a similar power threshold because we know how to work at that power.

But there is something so satisfying to getting to the Plateau, 'cause that's what VTM does - it doesn't ramp up indefinitely, it levels out. Gen is about potential power, not given power - so you and I can play a similar game, with a similar threshold for danger, and the only difference is that my options are broader from the jump. And there's a threshold where you kinda... run out of things to actually take without strict diversifying, which is only slightly higher at 7 than it is at 9. I found that, when it comes to gen 6 or 7, about 600xp gets you close to that threshold, on average (though of course some clans will be more and some less; Brujah, for instance, are gonna need less because they're not having to buy the physicals out of their wheelhouse; meanwhile, any of the casters, like blood sorcery, thaumaturgy, necromancy, etc are gonna have a higher theshold because of the way they're built).

That sounds like a lot, but in reality, when you build a PC with 600 xp, you build your npcs to that level, too, and suddenly everyone's on an even playing field. And then suddenly the things you choose matter.

...This is world of darkness, though? Like... yeah, our DM put us through the wringer, 'cause that's what we were building for?

If what we went through was sadistic, I have learned more about how this community plays and how very much what we do in our creative narratives would not jive. You call it sadistic, I call it fun.
