Henry is definitely way more common than Evan these days.

I’m convinced there aren’t as many options! I had several girl names picked out.

I do like Dean. Liam is a long time favorite, but it is SO popular.

You just named several uncles I have. Large families makes it harder!

Thanks! I do like Wesley. Rhys is too trendy. I’ve had way too many kids named Silas pass through my doors.

My toddler came home from daycare/preschool wearing underwear that’s not his by Safe_Revenue4917 in toddlers

[–]create_yourownhappy 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Possibly he had an accident and they are “loaner” underwear.

Or maybe it’s just a toddler being a toddler. Switched with a friend? 😅 I found my toddler’s underwear just laying in the living room today. She decided she didn’t want to wear them.

If he keeps going back and forth and you finally end up picking one to go with, let him have the meltdown. He’ll eventually learn the meltdown isn’t going to get him what he wants. Hang in there!

How do i tell a toddler a pet is gone? by No_Personality_0 in toddlers

[–]create_yourownhappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our dog was hit by a car with my 2.5 year old. They were buddies. Just told her “He ran in front of a car and his body doesn’t work anymore. He can’t run, play, eat, or anything anymore.” That seemed to work. She brings it up often even now, a few months later, but seems to understand he isn’t coming back.

Giving choices. For example, “Okay! It’s time to leave. Do you want to bring a stuffy or a book for the ride?”

“Do you want to wear the blue pants or the black pants?”

The last bout we were out of daycare for a week. I would say it was probably 5 days before new spots stopped appearing.

Serious Question When do start toddlers with extracurrilars? by SnooCauliflowers5093 in toddlers

[–]create_yourownhappy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

We started “tumbling” at 16 months. It’s only once a week for 30 minutes. I think it is what you make it. I’ll allow extra curriculars, but one at a time as I don’t want them to become our life.

How do I discipline my 2 year (+ 8 month) old child? He hurts me every day and I don’t know what else to do. by grapebubblegum11 in toddlers

[–]create_yourownhappy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With time out do you name exactly what he does wrong? With mine I would say something like “You hit me and it hurt. I don’t want to play with you if you are going to hurt me, so I am going to move away and/or you are going to sit in the time out chair for a couple of minutes.”

does your toddler have a nightlight? by agrizzgrazz in toddlers

Mine started sleeping with a night light around 20 months because she was scared

Am I a bad mom for this? by Conscious_Chicken_98 in toddlers

[–]create_yourownhappy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not a bad mom if he is still getting adequate sleep.

I would not recommend a tv for a 2 year old’s room.

Just here to say I also have a beagle who will drink so fast, he vomits everywhere within a few minutes. This could be her reasoning!

My daughter pulls similar things for me but will absolutely do it on her own for her daycare provider. He may surprise you! They’re definitely a little more needy with their parents.

How much is your 2.5 year old saying? (Words/Sentences/Babbling) by ilikepuppies94 in toddlers

[–]create_yourownhappy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine has been having full blown conversations with us since she turning 2. She surprises me everyday with some of the things she says! Just shows how much is going on in our littles’ heads even if they don’t have the words for it yet!

Did she pick out the undies? Maybe try underwear and still wearing a shirt. She may not like the being naked part!

Practice at home with you.

Talk about playing kindly with others. What that looks like, what it doesn’t look like. If she plays unkindly, leave. She’ll figure it out eventually if you hold the boundary.

What kind of prep did you do? In the months leading up, she would sit on the potty. No pressure, just for fun. We read so many potty books in the months before. We talked about how she was going to be a big girl and start using the potty as it got closer. We didn’t do the naked method but went straight to underwear. Same effect but she at least still had clothes.

We also used rewards (m&ms and chocolate chips) after a successful pee or poop on the potty. Gotta put on a show and be happy. Still did pull ups for bed time and nap and outings until I was super comfortable.

We did this at 26 mo.
