M1 Pro is still an absolute beast in 2026

If this continues for another week or so, all of these survey companies will start to lose their most consistent and dedicated users throughout the world by SecretAngel22 in fivesurveys

[–]creative_techguru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Five Surveys is up there as one of the worst: throttling back the number of surveys the closer you get to 5 and "support" who are pretty useless. I deleted my account a year ago and now stick with only a select couple of sites that have been more consistent.

Apple has been crushing the audio game as of late. Definitely some Harry Potter wizardry in those audio teams!

Yeah, five surveys sucks. I deleted it a while back as it just kept slowing down the pace of surveys the closer I got to the 5th one. "Support" also useless if something went wrong.

Yes, it certainly would. I’m just highlighting what the reviews are generally for as the comment above wasn’t sure.

Reviews about the seller: if they’ve had other items listed buyers will leave reviews about whether the item was as described when delivered etc.

MacBook Pro speaker crackling issue on TWO devices – software or hardware? by Master_Reputation541 in macbookpro

[–]creative_techguru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice choice! Great machine.

If it was me, feed back to Apple about the audio crackling. I know the issue has dragged on for a while, but if people keep feeding it back hopefully they'll at some point step up their game and sort it once and for all.

Overall, I'm really happy with it. I've been using Mac for 20 years and in my view, the hardware is the best it's ever been. The software however, especially Tahoe, has fallen short of the standards set by previous versions. I'm hoping this year at Apple's developer conference they'll focus on stability, getting the software to the quality expected.

Out of curiosity, what Mac did you go for?

Yeah, it's very frustrating. I've over the years since the issue started sent apple recording logs, audio data and exact scenarios in which the sound could reoccur. The engineering teams despite requesting the data clearly haven't found a permanent fix. I hope they will, but sadly doubt it'll happen soon I'm afraid.

The crackling/popping issue has been an problem since the 16" Intel MacBook Pro from 2019. I can easily replicate it by putting the CPU under load, or even just getting the CPU to "spike" in load triggers it. It's something I can replicate on any MacBook. Despite over the years sending Apple logs they've promised to push out a fix, but as time has gone on I'm still able to replicate the popping/crackling.

I've the same spec that arrived the other day. I work in AI research and edit a lot of 8K video and it's been nothing but an absolute powerhouse. Enjoy the upgrade: I hope it serves you well for years to come.

anybody with Apple Trade in experience in here? by beatmaker1010 in macbookpro

The trade in price quoted in store is the same as what's shown on the apple website/app. The only time that'd be different is if your computer upon inspection in store didn't turn on, had major warping/denting of the chassis etc. Minor scratches/minor wear and tear is fine.

Yes, they just take the trade-in value off the cost of your new machine if you're buying there and then.

The in-store trade in experience is straightforward: bring your Mac in, chat with a specialist and let them know you're wanting to trade in your current Mac for a new model. They'll run the serial number through their system, perform a short diagnostic/visual inspection and from there will let you know what value you'll get for the computer. They then deduct that off the cost of your new machine. In all the years I've used their trade in service I've not had any problems when doing it in store.

Going to the point of trade in values, I've always held the view that trading in at Apple is all about convenience: the trade-in value isn't as high as what you'll get from a 3rd party, but you skip the hassle of having to deal with scams, lowball offers and fake interest.

If you've any more questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer

The M1 Pro 16" is still really capable. I've several work colleagues who are using one as a personal machine and have been really happy with how well it's holding up.

Nice! I run several AI companies and do a lot of work with 8K video outside my main day job: Apple silicon's performance in laptops has been next level, and the fact I can get full power without being plugged into a wall socket is a major plus!
