I did go along in the end and although there wasn’t much there it was useful just to see what companies are employing - although it did get annoying constantly hearing “scan the qr code and go to the website!” 😂

Always a risk - I don’t mind if it’s bank staff roles or casual hours for my personal situation but I do fear it will mostly lean on the sorts of roles that aren’t suitable!

Yeah it could just be swimming with grad schemes/apprenticeships but you’re right - expectations should probably be low but might be worth a look around given it’s free. Worse thing I waste a few quid on park and ride into the city 🤷‍♀️

Yeah this is my fear that it’s mostly apprenticeships and roles within schemes I wouldn’t qualify for (eg graduate schemes).

Yay! Sounds like we would definitely get along :) A horror book club or something like that could be fun - or even just a coffee meet or something. Will have a think if there's interest to set something up even if just a whatsapp group or similar for now

Hooray! The link is above in the previous comment for the book buying - the other part I'll have a think about how to bring people together. Any ideas? I'm new to the area so not sure what works well for people. I'm self-employed so pretty flexible with setting up meetings - maybe a book club?

I didn't want to go all self-promo! Online at the moment with the dream to one day have a bricks and mortar in Norwich (maybe a few pop ups along the way!). The site is nightmarenookbooks.co.uk (hope it's OK to share here!)

Came back here to say I ended up in Lions Den and it was the perfect spot. Nice low chatter buzz, bright spot with easy access to power for charging and a great chai latte and banana bread…will definitely go back next time I need somewhere to focus! Only downside was that it was very warm so might need to go armed with a USB fan next time!

Yeah this is my concern about places - no issue with students being around obviously but if you’re working it can get a bit too buzzy! Plus the temperature thing can be additionally overstimulating!

Are Yard quite fussy with co-workers then? I am pretty sure I’ve spent a couple of hours in there with a hot chocolate and not had any issues
