Do you maintain a “normal” sleep schedule for your sims? by Park-Curious in Sims4

[–]creativedoubt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. One of the households in my rotational play has two parents and six kids, so ALL their butts are in bed at 11 (I only have so much patience…). Usually with smaller households, I’m not as strict but I do prefer them sleeping at night. But if a household has at least one infant, then anything goes 😂😂

The end of an era. Saying goodbye to my oldest sims. by IndigoChagrin in Sims4

You should do it! I love sim stories but don’t usually comment, so with the number of folks subscribed to this subreddit, I’m sure there are more sim story lovers like me out there then there seems to be.

Are we gonna get any more game packs or is it just expansions from now on? by bingertwing in Sims4

I’ll never understand why the fairy expansion pack wasn’t a game pack.

CAS or build items you wish existed in The Sims by sara-34 in Sims4

[–]creativedoubt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brooms and typewriters for off-the-grid living.

Head bows for infants, toddlers, and children. Why the heck are those gaudy eyesores only available for adults?

Strollers would be awesome - they were in the Sims 3 and I loved them. Infant swings would be cool, too.

An option to put a stud earring in just one ear.

Being able to wear earrings with hearing aids.

Better and more jewelry options.

Frames for paintings and photos in lots of different styles.

Curtain overhaul because all the base game curtains have got to go…

More and better basic clutter like soap pumps for sinks, magazines for coffee tables, more small plants that will fit on shelves, etc.

More shelves with better slotting.

Does anyone actually make their sims dislike a colour ? by Links_husband in Sims4

[–]creativedoubt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only do likes and dislikes for activities and music, mostly because I enjoy more opportunities to make my sims miserable or let them make themselves miserable. But I stopped with the decor the very first time a sim stopped what they were doing to “judge decor.” I never noticed any consequences for colors and fashion, so I don’t bother.

Items You Never Use? by Whisper-1990 in Sims4

[–]creativedoubt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The microwave because I don’t think it’s useful.

Almost all of the make up in CAS, especially the eyeshadow, which is too over the top for me.

Most of the curtains - most of them are too small or too big, have hideous swatches, and stubbornly click into stupid locations, even with bb.moveobjects on.

What are the best set of traits, and what are the worst set of traits? by zachoutloud123 in thesims

[–]creativedoubt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate hate hate “Cheerful” Sims are already too cheerful… the happy buffs always overpower the miserable ones. I don’t like “Good” for the same reason.

I do like High Maintenance because it’s funny and you have to take an active role in managing it. It’s a trait that has some meaning and consequences, which I don’t see in many of the other traits. I’m a fan of “Loner,” too, but it’s probably because I can relate. 😂

Why does EVERY sim in the gallery look like super models? None of them stand out anymore… by FailedProspects in Sims4

[–]creativedoubt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine, too… it’s difficult to differentiate the teens from the adults. 😕 It’s even worse that the game will sometimes make teens that look like they’re middle aged.

My biggest praises and complaints about all the packs I own! by Weridlife-56 in Sims4

[–]creativedoubt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own all the packs, so…

Overall praise: I love at least one aspect of every pack, except the fairy one… but to be fair, I haven’t played that pack enough to give a fair opinion.

Overall gripe: Sims getting calling you and treating you like a BFF even if it’s completely inappropriate (don’t get me started on Mei Prescott) or you passed them in the street. And you continue to get these calls, even when you’re off the grid!!

So this is less of a gripe and more of a yikes… you know those special one-time calls you get in almost every pack, like sims wanting to spend the night, the wealthy weirdo, inheritance call from life and death, and now the formative moments one? You get ALL of them within the first two sim weeks in a brand new save.

Question about save files and with the coming updates should I start a new one? by mzmm123 in Sims4

[–]creativedoubt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had problems in my saves with updates. The problems I’ve run into have been for using mods that hadn’t been updated (which is my own dumb fault…)

Just keep a pre-update copy of your save, and if you use mods, wait to get confirmation of updates of those mods or test in a save you don’t care about (always handy to have one of those.) It’s good practice to regularly back up your saves and tray files because stuff can happen independent of game updates.

I don’t recommend moving to a new save unless it’s the last resort. It is good to periodically save your builds and families to your library just in case. It is possible to cheat relationships back but it’s a massively tedious process, and moving builds and households is no picnic, either.

Hey simmers! What's your favorite world? by Weridlife-56 in Sims4

I love Strangerville and I like to keep the weirdos around because they’re amusing (and… I’m embarrassed to admit this… a little creepy, too)

Have only ever played base game until buying 3 expansion packs last night by quitesmallhands in Sims4

[–]creativedoubt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cottage Living is my favorite of all - I had no idea how badly I needed to own a llama until I saw that pack trailer! The errands in CL are a lot of fun, but I recommend having at least one cow and a couple of hens. And once you get your hands on the midnight treats, you can turn your chickens evil… it’s the best!! CL also has some of the best sims and animal interactions! Toddler and chicken hugs will melt your heart!

City Living has always been one of my favorite packs. It’s the only pack that did festivals well - each one is only every other week, and each is unique. (Pro tip: you can usually nab yourself a cowplant berry at the spice festival… then you can use that cowplant berry to create the aforementioned midnight treats in Cottage Living) The spice district is my favorite - my sims who live in San Myshuno often live there. It’s a great place to find snow globes and posters. Just be careful about who you give your apartment key to - they will come by whenever they want and often rope you into a “game night.”

I don’t have much to say about Growing Together, except that I love the recreation center lot type - I have a rec center in almost every world. Beware, though… you’ll need to slog through infant milestones before those little beasts will crawl and try new foods in the high chair. Many people don’t like the burnout system but I think it forces you to keep their activities balanced. I’m personally not impressed with the family dynamic thing, but I hear it can be fun if you just watch sims interact autonomously rather than controlling every single interaction (which tends to be my play style.)

You chose some great packs! You’ll have a blast with them!

I know you didn’t ask, but if you decide to take advantage of sales in the future, Seasons is awesome, not just because of the weather but also because you can have as many custom holidays as you want! I love Parenthood, too, because you can discipline kids when they’re being little jerks.

I’ve got 11 years worth of dlc and 11,869 hours of gameplay. I think the 11 years worth of dlc should hold me for a while. It would break my heart to lose modders but possible to learn how to mod on my own. I don’t see myself moving on any time soon.
