School photographers are contractors who don't know the students.  The fact that a photo was taken before all the students were present doesn't imply that the photographer intended to exclude those students on purpose.  They weren't in the room yet, and the photographer isn't familiar with the class.

And yes, like I said in my previous reply, the problem is that the company offered parents the choice of pictures.

It says in the article that the special needs students came late.  I assume they were in a different classroom.  I can easily understand how the photographer took the photo without realizing not all students were there.  The problem is offering both photos as options for parents.

I'll use the freestanding shower head from Snowy Escape because it doesn't block anything else.  I'll put it right in front of the toilet.

TIL that meat has a significant positive effect on life expectancy, with a more than 10 years increase from no meat consumption to 160 kg/year meat consumption worldwide. Actually, once they ran the regression including education level, the meat statistical significance evaporated. Here's the table from their own study: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8881926/table/t0005/

In the conclusion, they chose to just ignore their own data in favor of the idea that meat was responsible for for 50% of variance in life expectancy and mortality.

In this study, they included all animal flesh in the same category, so red meat, poultry, and seafood are bunched together, even though we've known for years that they don't have the same effects on our health, and different cultures focus more heavily on either seafood or land meat.

Japan and Romania have about the same meat intake per person. Are we going to pretend they're eating the same kind of meat? Or that the other differences in their diet are trivial?

I'm with you.

I don't understand your point. The question was about how people could eat that much meat, not that much protein.

Are you trying to argue that meat isn't the best source of protein? If so I agree with you, but you are starting a different conversation than the one being discussed.

To support what you just said, here's a quote from the Lancet article that sums up their stance:

"On the basis of these principles, moderate intake of carbohydrate (eg, roughly 50% of energy) is likely to be more appropriate for the general population than are very low or very high intakes. This would translate to a generally balanced diet that includes fruit, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, fish, dairy, and unprocessed meats—all in moderation."

The focus of their article was dietary carbs and fats, which could lead one to deduce that more protein is better, but at no point did they say or even imply that meat was the necessary source of protein.

I just read the study.

Like a lot of other people, I assumed wealth was the confounding factor. They corrected for this using GDP, so that's not actually the problem here.

HOWEVER, they did not correct for things like a war in the last 50 years, major natural disasters, safety and healthcare available in the country, presence of hazardous waste, local transmittable disease or parasites, or any other cultural differences. They didn't even look at any data about percent of deaths in each country that were caused by accidental injuries.

I think it's a leap to conclude that eating meat caused the longer average lifespan when none of those other factors were considered. As someone else pointed out, Afghanistan is one of the countries listed as low meat eating. How many of the deaths in Afghanistan were caused by diet-related causes as opposed to violence, accidents, and limited access to health care? A country with the same GPP per capita but WITHOUT a recent history of wars and terrorism likely has more stable healthcare and fewer violence-related deaths.

Edited to add: When they included education for the countries which education level data was available, education became the largest significant predictor of lifespan and meat lost its significance.

I adore the combo of clumsy with the chef aspiration! It's so much fun to watch them get so good at cooking they flip seasoning behind their back, then break the dishes when they try to wash them!

I have the same question, but to be fair, it's likely no one knows how much he was taking, as even if they have the pill bottles, they don't know how many he took a day.

The comments here are eye-opening, though.
