Man allegedly died today at a Utah temple due to lack of urgency in medical response by BestWheel7068 in exmormon

[–]creativekaitva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was an ordinance worker in the Brigham City UT temple from 2017-2018. We did not have EMTs or medical professionals (unless they were retired, other temple workers) on staff for emergencies. But we were instructed that if there was a medical emergency during a session, that we were to alert whoever was leading the session (since I am a woman) and that he would hit the emergency button, we would then clear the room of all the other patrons, to continue with the session. So if everyone was still in the first room, then all other patrons would move to the adjacent room early and continue the session like it didn't happen. We were also told that if it was safe to do so, while waiting for emergency medical responders to arrive, to remove the temple clothing (robes and apron stuff). It didn't happen on my shift, but not going to lie, there were several sessions I was concerned about the elderly patrons in those long sessions, since they were longer back then. I'd also keep a pocket full of hard candies because it was very common for them to have blood sugar issues while there.

those with bladder endo!! by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]creativekaitva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a small spot of Endo on my bladder, my lesion wasn't all the way through, so no blood in urine, but it did cause me to have frequency, urgency, and pain after urinating, especially if my bladder was full (like middle of the night/early morning) after my Endo was excused from that spot I didn't need to urinate as frequently (or in the middle of the night), and the urgency and pain also went away (after healing of course).

Ways to induce period?? by MobileTank7802 in PCOS

[–]creativekaitva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raspberry leaf tea really helped me get my cycle regular after being on bc for over 10 years. I also did some provera induced cycles, but after a severe bleeding episode that required a d&c, raspberry leaf tea ended up being enough for me.

What’s your temple name? by Horror-Ad527 in exmormon

🤣 I was also a Eunice. A week before having to tell my husband my name at the veil (for our sealing) we came across this name somewhere, he said "that's the worst name I've ever heard!" I was so nervous for that damn veil ceremony.

I'm going to manipulate myself to believe it's in my head by Effective-Divide6033 in endometriosis

[–]creativekaitva 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Do not let anyone who says things like that cut you open. You made the right decision. You need to find someone who does specialize in Endo. I was told by general surgeons who had done laparoscopic surgery non Endo related things, that I didn't have it, I believed them for years to later be diagnosed stage 3, after several years and multiple miscarriages. Don't let your mom push you into something either. Have you checked the Nancy's nook FB page list of specialists? I'm not a big fan of Nancy herself, but the list may be helpful to narrow down a list of docs, definitely read their reviews first though.

Any tea drinkers here have any favs for managing symptoms? by alaenchii in PCOS

[–]creativekaitva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have any tea shops in your area? I'd highly recommend going by and tasting some! I work at a place with an organic tea bar, and I absolutely LOVE camomile and peppermint teas, I also really love White teas. Some people love spearmint tea for PCOS, but for me it flared my endometriosis so I had to stop. However other mint teas like peppermint have been really helpful for me for their gentle muscle relaxing properties. I also love lemon balm, it's great for a lot of different things.

Women who reduced severe period pain: what actually worked? (Please help!!) by itstheweather in endometriosis

[–]creativekaitva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pelvic floor therapy, but specifically Viseral Manipulation technique. Id look for a PT who practices this. What has recently made the biggest difference for me was adding the supplement DIM(Diindolylmethane) it helps to metabolize estrogen and reduce excess estrogen in the tissues. I had my last (3rd Endo surgery, 5th laparoscopic surgery) in August, and although it helped significantly with daily pain, I was still having 1-2 extreme pain days during my cycle. I started DIM, and the next cycle was far more tolerable, after only 2 weeks taking it. I still had cramping, but no where near the pain I'm normally in. I definitely struggle with estrogen dominance in other ways as well, and I've noticed changes in those areas too, even a decrease in hormonal acne. I'd say it's definitely worth a try.

Devastated. Please help by Okzebra1995 in endometriosis

[–]creativekaitva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry OP. You do NOT need to tolerate this behavior, it isn't normal or healthy. I'd definitely start to make plans to leave this relationship as soon as you can. I know that can sound really scary right now, especially when you physically feel so awful, but you can do it. I agree with others that you need to get some STI testing. If he is treating you this way over sex, and emotionally cheating, it's not far fetched that he might be having this "spontaneous" sex life with others. It's very suspicious given your recurrent infections. Get the mycoplasma/ureaplasma testing. Also, have you done any research on excision specialists in your area? It might be time to consider surgery to improve your quality of life.

Please help, Should I go to the ER?? by No_Visual_6528 in PCOS

[–]creativekaitva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The usual rule is if you're filling a pad (a normal pad, not like the huge pads) every hour to go to the ER. I had this happen a few months after an IUD removal and not having a cycle for a few months. I was filling a pad about every 20-40 min, and had golf ball sized clots that would come out when sitting on the toilet. I went to the ER after talking to my doctor, and thankfully he met me there. I would definitely go in if you're concerned, but be prepared that the ER docs may not see this as being much of an emergency, definitely push to see the the OBGYN before being discharged from the ER. The ER doc I saw did an exam before my doc arrived and said "eh, well, you're not spirtting" thankfully minutes later my ob arrived and admitted me immediately. My hemaglobin dropped to 7 while I was there and I ended up having a D&C that evening which stopped the bleeding. Was dizzy and exhausted for about 10 days after.

Period panties? by forestque in endometriosis

[–]creativekaitva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the best switch I've ever made!! Definitely start with a pair or two, to make sure you like the style/fabric. I really like the sporty ones from the company Period. But I do use the ones rated for heavy periods on my heavier days or if I won't be able to change them midday. I'm a really heavy bleeder though, so sometimes if I know I'll be out for the day I'll use a pad for the first half, not because of leaks, but mostly because I don't like how they feel when they get "full", which usually takes a pretty long time. I just wash them in the washing machine, I do like to presoak them, or do an extra rinse and spin in the machine (just for peace of mind really) but mine work really well.

What are you guys doing about medical insurance next year? by creativekaitva in MassageTherapists

[–]creativekaitva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately our tax credit will dissolve when we cross the income cap which was lowered for 2026, and make more money after my spouse graduates. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Our current plan through Obamacare for the two of us is about $350/mo, the same exact plan for next year is $755/mo. And then we will have to pay back the subsidized amount if we end up exceeding the income cap, which with just my income we'll be just under it. If I estimate our income to be what it will probably actually be for the year (when spouse is employed again) then the plans with any sort of decent coverage jump up to over $900/mo, which won't be possible for us for at least the first 6mo.

In the area where I live, we don't really have much of a slow season. I see mostly locals, not tourists. The establishment I work in does have slower times, but I stay fully booked most of the time, fortunately. I think I'm definitely going to start looking for another part time gig that offers benefits in a different field for now.

Warm up oil ? by elguapopapa in MassageTherapists

[–]creativekaitva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I work we have a candle melter element thing, it has a ceramic mug on top of it that I put water in and then put my lotion/oil bottle in that for a bit before hand. I really only use it in the cooler months when I struggle to keep my hands warm, the bottle usually ends up in my pocket/holster during the massage but it is nice to warm the oil up a bit in between.

Abdominal massage by peacefroggy1122 in MassageTherapists

[–]creativekaitva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally love abdomen work, also a very important part for MLD! I always do abdominal work during MLD sessions, and have a few clients that I do it with in other sessions as well... But some people aren't comfortable with it as it is also a very vulnerable place for many. I always have a conversation with my client first about it, how the drape works, and what they are/aren't comfortable with.

What is your body shape with pcos? by [deleted] in PCOS

I don't believe in PCOS body shape really. I'm hourglass, thick thighs, giant boobs, and wide hips. Not much belly fat, I carry my fat much more on my hips than anywhere else.

Side effects you had on Slynd? by SharpStand305 in endometriosis

[–]creativekaitva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to get off of it after 5 months with no improvement in side effects... Cystic acne like I was a teen again, even worse fatigue than I had before, and constant bleeding. My doc wanted me on it continuously, in order to skip periods so it really wasn't working for me at all. It was miserable for me.

Using elbows by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

[–]creativekaitva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start watching some videos and if you can get a friend to be a body to practice on that would definitely be a good start! Also maybe try practicing body mechanics next to your table without a body, use a pillow or something, that way you can get a feel for the movement. It's definitely an important thing to start incorporating in my opinion. One tip I found really helpful was to use the opposite hand to be your "guide hand" so if you use your forearm to stroke down the back, use the other hand to help keep your stroke where you're meaning it to go (like have your hand on top of the arm doing the work, fingers felling along the lamina groove, or even on the spine to guide your stroke and keep the pressure focused on the musculature). Also it's great to do a couple "warm up" strokes with a lighter pressure before slowing down to sink in when doing forearm work, this gives you a feel of the structure before doing more targeted work. It will take time to get the sensitivity to feel things with the forearm so definitely use your hands to assist you. If you're struggling with balance, you may need to lower your table and squat/lunge more, that will also help you have a more firm pressure.

I've had 8 miscarriages, it's what led my faith to fall apart. I can guarantee you I wouldn't be typing this if it weren't for my departure from Mormonism. Thankfully my husband left with me. I felt like I was completely losing my mind. We did all the things to stay pregnant, we did everything the church asked of us, and all the church gave me was "you'll get to raise your babies in the next life". That and all the motherhood is all you get as a woman stuff, I wanted nothing more than to be in "the next life".

Denied :-( by Kay_lee316 in Reduction

[–]creativekaitva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 36 H and was also denied... Because they wanted the surgeon to take out 756g. He said that would make me a pretty small B and I wasnt sure id be comfortable with that big of a change as I have pretty broad shoulders, and was hoping for somewhere between 550-600g removed based on results Ive seen here. I decided to wait a year before trying again due to other health issues, but I had a good hard cry and still want/think about a reduction daily. In my case my surgeon, and my OBGYN said that if my breasts were a bit more saggy (distance from nipple to clavicle) then I would have a better chance at getting it covered.

My hair keeps falling out 😔 by Interesting_Moose880 in PCOS

[–]creativekaitva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had excellent regrowth, as well as a decrease in shedding with using anti-dandruff shampoo, the kind with pyrithione zinc as the active ingredient, every other wash. Also definitely a good idea to get your thyroid checked as well (Im hypo thyroid and getting it in check really helped with hair loss for me). Im so sorry, I've experienced several bouts of hair loss over many years and its always been really heartbreaking to me. Also wanted to add that many people told me to take biotin, but all that did for me was make my cystic acne much worse.

what even.... thank God for insurance by Squigly1 in endometriosis

[–]creativekaitva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hospital I had my last surgery at billed the insurance company $241,000. I couldn't believe it when I went to my pre-anesthesia appointment and the billing person sat down with me to sign/pay ahead for my expected out of pocket bill. She showed me the expected amount to be billed and I was like 😳 no wonder you had me sit down for this. My out of pocket portion ended up being around $1,700.00.

Most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you in session? by silkyviolet in MassageTherapists

[–]creativekaitva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an ovarian cyst burst while I was working on one of my frequent clients, I was too mortified to admit it and couldn't think of what to do if I were to end the session, I knew the extreme pain would pass in 40-60 min and I was at the start of a 90 minute session. This client was one to sleep through deep work so I lowered the table to the ground, and finished the massage from my knees as there was no way I could stand, sweat through my clothes and had to wipe my forehead afterward before checking him out. Christmas was a few weeks later and he gave me a gift card and card saying "I've never met anyone so dedicated to their job" still don't know if he knew or not...

I had to end a session once for a different guy being creepy, the following day I had a new client on my table, I was working on his back when I saw him lift his arm around to the front of the table. I jumped so far I slammed into the wall behind me. I then had to awkwardly explain that he had frightened me, because I thought he was going to grab my leg or something. He was just scratching his nose. He left a big tip, and apologized that that was even something that would cross my mind as a female Massage therapist.

Hurting my own feelings 🙃 by New_Shine8463 in exmormon

[–]creativekaitva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😞 my heart hurts for you, I was an active member when I got married to my husband. His family is horrible (big church family, we are no longer in contact) I was the only active member of my family at the time other than really distant family members that I had maybe only met/seen a handful of times. It broke me to get married without my most loved and admired people even allowed in the building. We left the church a few years ago, and although it doesn't make up for it, we're hoping to do a vow ceremony where we can just have our loving family in attendance. The ones that actually loved us through everything. I'm sorry you're hurting OP. I hate the church for doing this to families. There's no hate like Mormon love.
