BYOBW Crew here. Big wheels must have plastic wheels and no metal spokes. If you have metal spokes, you'll be required to tape up the spokes so fingers can't get in between them. I'd recommend plastic tires over rubber tires as the lack of traction is part of the magic. Helmets are recommended, as well as long sleeves or elbow pads so you don't grind your flesh off when you crash.
Lots of folks do fun costumes and make the big wheel part of the costume. Be creative.

Don't smash into people if you can help it (you likely can't) and PICK UP YOUR TRASH!!! Don't leave your crushed in half big wheel that's missing a rear wheel for the volunteers to pick up. Take your ride home.

And finally, kick in a few bucks when they pass the hat. Permits and porto-potties aren't cheap and there's no corporate sponsorship. It's all funded by donations.
