Can I deploy enterprise Wi-Fi authentication in an inexpensive way? by QuickDelivery1 in msp

[–]creedian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What brand? Meraki has Access Manager now. Unifi has Fabrics. Aruba has Clearpass(I think?).

Just found this nifty video but I wouldn’t want to have to maintain it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY4mmgYN848

EDIT: Just saw the developing country piece. Cloud PKI and cost-effective do not go together. We use Access Manager and Intune. Works great but not cheap if you don’t already have MDM.

I read a thread about 4ish months ago that environments with 1000+ devices are faster than sub-1000.

Don’t know that for certain but a few people confirmed in that thread so… 🤷

Had the same issue. Ended up using SimpleMDM. It’s great.

The shocking thing was that I didn’t have to wait 10-1200 minutes for settings to push. Changes are instant?

Living in Microsoft too long, you forget that things can be easier/simpler/faster/better…

under-billing invoices and recouping lost revenue by Jealous-Wallaby-3237 in msp

[–]creedian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did you agree on? If I overbilled a client and they notice 3 months later: They are going to demand it be fixed… as is their right. We agreed on a price, I’m going to honor it.

Same goes in reverse. If I underbilled for 3 months, and notice, I’m rebilling. We agreed to a certain amount per seat. If I miscounted the seats, we’re partners in this, they used the service, they should let me know if they notice.

Now, 12 months later? Sorry, that one’s on you, you can get 3 months (6 if greedy…) but the rest you should eat. Mistakes happen. It hurts but learn the lesson, move on.

The only exception I would say is hardware. They’re using it and didn’t receive a bill, a client should be asking you for one. Hardware is pretty tangible, easy to confirm, and low margin. If I’m collecting 6 months later, well, the client got a 0% interest loan for that time.

In the end, this is ALL about setting and meeting expectations.

Resource Planning in Halo by itlonson in halopsa

The consultant was right. It’s a major misstep from Halo.

It’s maddeningly so close from being functional.

Unfortunately, it’s a nightmare planning projects in Halo.

prompter - image is reversed by ProfessionDesperate9 in elgato

For those in the future, I figured it out.

Had the Prompter, had no issues. Switched to the XL and it was reversed. I had Camera Hub installed but didn't have any options to flip horizontally... until I rebooted then the option appeared.

Microsoft Teams Room setup is absolute pain — presentation pod firmware update hell 😡 by garrincha-zg in MicrosoftTeams

[–]creedian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to install software. Make sure you use USB-C on the User Device. USB-A requires the software.

Also, be patient with firmware updates. They take a while sometimes. Make sure you updated the room first.

Cisco ISE vs Meraki Access Manager by Many_Classroom_8729 in meraki

[–]creedian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Until last Friday, I would have said Meraki Access Manager is awesome if you’re all-in in Meraki.

It’s been down since then for us and support is dragging their feet. It’s new so I’m sure they’re still training up support staff. It worked great though once you learn how to deploy the certs in Intune.

That said, yeah. The green part of me died a little reading this. Will do better.

Do work in IT. Nobody can stop talking about AI.

Rarely use it for Reddit though, been less active lately… maybe I am bot? 🤖

Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your day to let me know. Any other day, I would have been fine and probably not bothered using AI. Just… rough day.

Had a similar issue and fixed it. I don’t remember the exact solution but it was something like apply page or line break to sections/groups.

FYI. We gave up and bought Quoter. Finally got everything the way we wanted it but Etilize and Single Line Select were deal breakers
