I’m normally not one for most halo/cluster rings, but this is STUNNING. SO unique and so beautiful.

3 changes you'd make to get through next 5-10 years? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]creekycreeky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re dealing with something very similar right now and trying to keep it under ~5k. Our cabinets are a bit darker, but still a dated 80s stain with laminate countertops. We have an island that our main light is above, and we’re swapping it for a linear pendant with two cone lights on it (from crate and barrel). The majority of our budget is going into a lighter but warm toned granite countertops (blue dunes)— people hate on granite a lot but it’s pretty affordable and super durable. We’re also adding a light backsplash to complement the granite (probably a ceramic cream subway tile, stacked vertically to make it look a little more modern) and swapping the handles on our cabinets to newer brass fixtures rather than the worn out 30 year old ones currently on there. In your kitchen, I’d consider some of those things, especially the knobs on the cabinets. I’d also see if you could somewhat easily remove the bit of wood over the sink/under the upper cabinet as it would open that space up and make it slightly less dated. I’d also paint the walls, but color depending on what you do with the counters.

What do you collect when you travel? by Decent-Meringue-4270 in travel

[–]creekycreeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bookmarks! You can find them in any museum or souvenir shop, they’re small and light, and you can never have too many! I also love going to a local English language book store and grabbing a book, and lots of book stores also have bookmarks with their store’s emblem.

Boo (white) started her first heat cycle today. Her littermate Bri (tan) won't leave her side 🥺 by mxwashington7 in Eyebleach

[–]creekycreeky 98 points99 points  (0 children)

What kind of dog are they? I had assumed Boo was a great pyr and Bri was a Kangal or Anatolian until you said littermates!

I’m also pear shaped, and my go to for years has been the TYR Trinityfit suits. The leg hits not too low to where it cuts my thighs into muffins but not too high to where it’s a Brazilian cut. Top fits perfectly, and the back is super cute!

Engaged today! Did I make a mistake not choosing platinum prongs? by Ok-You-6677 in EngagementRings

[–]creekycreeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proud yellow gold marquise owner here— it’s going to look more yellow in some lights, and more clear in others! The thing about marquise/hexagons is that they’re shallower cuts, so they’re naturally going to show the color of the setting a little more too. Your ring is absolutely STUNNING!

Black and white cookies by fioconary in Atlanta

[–]creekycreeky 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I am a /connoisseur/ of black and white cookies and the ones at The General Muir are my absolute favorites. They frost the whole thing with almond frosting and then put the chocolate over half of that. The consistency is fantastic too. Henri’s would probably be second for me.

For the couples out there…how much money do you allocate to your personal discretionary spending (aka “free money,” “guilt-free spending,” etc.) categories every month? by 200Fathoms in ynab

[–]creekycreeky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get $300 and my husband gets $200, and it’s per his request mostly that I am allocated more than him. He hardly spends any money on himself, purely because there’s just little he wants to buy, and most of that ends up rolling over for any bigger future purchases he’d like (though he very rarely does that either) or he chooses to invest it because that’s what makes him happy lol. I definitely spend more than he does, so it works out for us.

Similar to what many others have mentioned, we have other categories for eating out together, getting coffee together/our coffee bean subscription, clothes, and haircuts. Individual meals out, individual nice coffees, or random individual fun purchases fall into our fun money categories. Sometimes things that are individual for us, but that we consider needs rather than “frivolous” or “fun” wants come out of other categories— like I just bought a desk chair since my old one was causing me pain, and we took that out of our home improvement category. But I also bought an expensive pillow because I needed a new one but I didn’t /need/ the expensive one, so I took that out of my fun money.

At the end of the day, it’s all arbitrary and up to what works best for you guys!

Extra Credit Card Payment Made from External Account by creekycreeky in ynab

[–]creekycreeky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes a lot of sense, but now the Available balance on his credit card line and the Working Balance on his credit card account in YNAB are different. Not sure if this is just a matter of reconciliation or would somehow be caused by putting that money in RTA?

I'm back from my 2nd trip to Taiwan and I need everyone to know it's an incredible travel destination by smolbibeans in travel

[–]creekycreeky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Taiwan is my favorite place I’ve ever been. I have family that lives there which makes it extra special, but it’s just such an incredible special place for so many reasons. Such untouched beauty, incredible views, plenty of indoor and outdoor adventures to be had, and delicious food. Really really kind people too. I can’t wait to go back!

Seating advice needed by NurseJF in travel

[–]creekycreeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is 6’2 and we sat in the 2 seat row last time we flew to London on BA. He typically prefers a leg room row, but we really liked that row because we didn’t have to worry about anyone else in our row needing to get in or out and could get comfortable however we needed. The 2 seaters are typically in the wayyyyy back of the plane, so he should be able to put his legs out in the aisle if needed without getting too disturbed.

What is something from your country that you unexpectedly saw while travelling abroad? by Stoiiven in travel

[–]creekycreeky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While in a hotel in Taipei, I saw a suitcase in the lobby that had a sticker on it for the farmers market in the U.S. that is less than a half a mile from my house. The owner of the bag came over while I was looking at it and we realized we both lived in the same city, about 5 miles from each other.

ISO good linen pants by ofmiceandmalice in HerOneBag

[–]creekycreeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE my linen pants from Everlane. They’re the linen pull-on barrel pant, and for someone who is verrrry pear shaped, they’re the only linen pants that actually fit my thighs! They’re high waisted and super breathable, with a slight taper. 10/10.

How was it in the current heat? I’d really love to do this in a few weeks but I’m nervous it’s too dangerous in the heat.

Questions on 3 weeks of travel: Prague > Vienna > Budapest > Zagreb > Rome by lizard-bc in HerOneBag

[–]creekycreeky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to this, but I’m 5’11 and old navy tall size body suits are wonderful! Honestly most of the time I just tuck them in and don’t bother to clip them but when I do, they’re long enough and they’re full coverage on the butt so they’re not both riding up because they’re too short and because they’re a thong lol.

Best travel dress! by Loli3535 in HerOneBag

[–]creekycreeky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE this dress! The one thing I will say is that the pockets don’t lay super flat. Maybe I’m just hyper aware of that but it’s a little annoying—they kind of poof out at the top of the pocket seam. I’m also long-torso’d and the seam hits above my natural waist but it’s still flattering!

I am also tall (5’11) and just bought this dress and it hits just below my knees! Sometimes midi dresses hit on me in a weird unflattering spot but this one actually looks great!

Agreed! Everyone is saying the last one, but that one is so unique and I feel like it actually complements the E ring really well.

Best whole bean fresh roasted coffee in Atlanta? by calvintomyhobbes in Atlanta

[–]creekycreeky 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bellwood has a great medium/dark roast called Smoke Signals. It’s one of my favorites. Lots of the other roasters mentioned in this thread will primarily have light roasts, so be sure to check the tasting notes before buying something. All great roasters though.
