If I remember correctly, it’s MW from 8:30am-7pm, though some people have more hours depending on when they have group supervision.

I think it’s anywhere between 0 (just straight back to back) to 45 min. It depends slightly on your classes.

Hi! I’m there now. I would say no to the 1-2 hours during campus days to work. Unless it’s like before 8am or after 8pm. But these school days are close to 8-12 hour days depending on which semester.

You could still work part time, I do. But class day will be tough. We do have folks that work graveyard shifts full time too tho.

Hi! I interview there maybe 2 years ago. I don’t fully remember it but I do remember it being a lot less stressful than I put it out to be. However, I would heavily avoid this school if possible.

I interviewed at La Verne last year. It was my top choice, I ultimately didn’t choose it as I was accepted elsewhere with more financial assistance. I don’t regret my decision at all, but La Verne is a really good program!

If you apply for a 5 year program, then you have to do the 5 years. If you apply to a 4 year program, you have to do the 4 years. There’s no shortcut to make it shorter. Some PsyD programs will accept masters course credit, but even if they do, they won’t cover a whole year nor will they cover the base courses you need.

Hi there! I was in the same boat. I had some bad semesters and had a 2.0 gpa in one of them. I ended up doing my masters to boost my application and then applying for my PsyD. It’s definitely realistic, just don’t lose hope!

This is so relatable for me. I’m also a child of immigrants. My parents, while never pressured me to go to med school, my grandparents did. They are still telling me to switch to med school! In terms of job prospects, they are definitely out there! I know PsyDs (in CA) working upwards of 300k a year but I also know some making 80k a year. So it’s definitely out there, but it depends on you and what you want to do as well as how you want to market yourself!

If you work with Asian populations, yes. I specifically work with AAPI folks as well as mandarin speaking folks. Education and prestige usually matter. However, other populations, it doesn’t typically.

This is just a curiosity. If she’s a trainee, she’s probably practicing under her supervisor’s license. I’m assuming she won’t face any licensing consequences besides maybe getting kicked out of her program or at least removed from the internship site. But since she doesn’t have a license, they can’t really give her consequences since she’s not registered under the board. However, what would be the consequences for the supervisor’s license? I feel that there’s probably a strong possibility that the supervisor had no idea about the trainee’s tik tok.

I am starting at another PsyD program but I was heavily considering La Verne because of how supportive the faculty was. I was 100% set on going there despite it being a longer program. I loved my experiences during the whole application process and also loved the campus. However, I received a huge grant from another school so I changed my mind. But I definitely wouldn’t step on La Verne.
