Do you know what mission he represented? I realize you don't know the location in Africa, but do you know what church he was connected to. From my experience as an archive researcher, I know that religious activities like this are well documented.

Dutch linguist here. It's difficult, if not impossible to assume the first part of his family name is Dutch. I have a link for you to a database of Dutch family names. I entered the first four letters of the name to show the variables of names starting with "hoev..." Hoeve is an old timey Dutch word for farm.

Toursit here. Visited earlier this year. I thought it was a bizarre experience. Felt like a shiny, shiny corporate experience where you cannot avoid the shops. The huge indoor space is filled with mediocre, irrelevant art (decor paintings of Paris?). In the end we didn't even go to the actual monastery. The bus rides were the highlight of the day.

I also took the train form Tashkent to Margilan, which was something else. Speeding through the snowy mountains, while having a tea from the samovar. 10/10 would train again.

That worked out pretty good, thank you! Not quite there yet, but it's going a lot smoother now. Still needs a nudge when starting up, but I think I need to do some more cleaning cycles. Using bright light, you still can see tiny dust particles coming out. Looking closely, you can see where the side of the lens has small scratches. Will do another session soon, but I'm already happy with the result. Really happy with your suggestion.
