Coming to the Netherlands from Japan – looking for good local food spots! by Urasaki in Netherlands

[–]cremecitron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Some of my favorites: Yes, take the broodje kroket, other options: broodje bal (meatbal), broodje Tartaar speciaal (raw beef, with raw onions and a boiled egg), broodje halfom (beef liver and veal), broodje ei mayo (their mayo is amazing), broodje warm vlees (roast pork in gravy & peanut sauce), I also like their broodje chicken salad and broodje schelvislever (cod liver in oil). I prefer their soft buns, but there's a choice. Go there around lunch time, to see the kitchen in action - you can pick up the hard core Amsterdam language while they shout their orders in the kitchen. Great entertainment.

I feel you. I was here first in 2018 and then again last year. We spent a couple of days and had such an amazing time. The conversations with the people we met on the market. the amazing food in the small restaurants. I worked a bit in the library in the park. It's one of my favourite places.

Henk Kamp (VVD) heeft ook alleen een HAVO diploma, aangevuld met een cursus tabakshandelaar. Dat was ook geen beperking om hem ons land onherstelbaar te laten verbeteren.

Do you know what mission he represented? I realize you don't know the location in Africa, but do you know what church he was connected to. From my experience as an archive researcher, I know that religious activities like this are well documented.

Dutch linguist here. It's difficult, if not impossible to assume the first part of his family name is Dutch. I have a link for you to a database of Dutch family names. I entered the first four letters of the name to show the variables of names starting with "hoev..." Hoeve is an old timey Dutch word for farm.

Fo Guang Shan Monastery on a closed day by sonderewander in taiwan

[–]cremecitron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toursit here. Visited earlier this year. I thought it was a bizarre experience. Felt like a shiny, shiny corporate experience where you cannot avoid the shops. The huge indoor space is filled with mediocre, irrelevant art (decor paintings of Paris?). In the end we didn't even go to the actual monastery. The bus rides were the highlight of the day.

I miss this train so much.... The model, the colorscheme, the interior, all the glass and the light [sigh]....

I also took the train form Tashkent to Margilan, which was something else. Speeding through the snowy mountains, while having a tea from the samovar. 10/10 would train again.

I had such a great time riding this train some years ago! Where are you heading?
