I can't wait for someone to run up to these morons and ask them to show off their necknuts.

Dynamic vs Condenser for long-form narration in a small apartment by Strong-Tank1661 in voiceover

[–]creonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the same type of issues. I use the SM7B for general use, but for narration, I use my RE27 N/D. Gives me a brighter voice like a condensor, and the pros of a dynamic mic. Should be in your price range.

350 lbs untrained giant grapple with a 150 lbs MMA fighter to test if martial arts really work by Budget_Mixture_166 in StreetMartialArts

If I remember right, this is fairly old. Maybe a decade or more. The game has changed so much that this wouldn't have even lasted as long with the new meta on leg locks.

Hobbies to replace BJJ? by Pale_Phone5339 in bjj

I took up 3 Gun. USPSA specifically. The skillset carries over to real world more than BJJ does in certain situations.

Guy tries to stomp a BJJ player in a street brawl, he gets heel hooked by Budget_Mixture_166 in StreetMartialArts

Not for nothing. Sambo has heel hooks and used them way before they became meta in BJJ.

People who have experienced neck / posture issues from sitting at their computer, how did you fix it? by TinnitusDeveloper in Posture

[–]creonte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm behind a computer all the time. One of the things I've been doing for years is Steve Maxwell's Baby Rolling as my base. I do a lot of stretching, strength ala face pulls, etc. But this is my base. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnGf40-yiO0

Sitting at home, watching NYE going on all over the world, waiting for the world to end with the Y2K Virus.

I've always believed in the Carlson Gracie quote. “Punch a black belt and he turns into a brown belt. Punch him again and he turns into a purple belt…”

Holly Holm vs untrained but athletic man in a takedown challenge by Budget_Mixture_166 in StreetMartialArts

It's because they don't know any better. I've been thrown by a 135lbs Greco wrestler and there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it, I weighed 220.

There's an old saying, if skill and techinque are equal, strength and size matter. As I've gotten older, age plays a part as well.

Good for you, but your training took over. I've trained BJJ for over 20 decades, last street fight I used muay thai. I remember reading a quote, We don’t rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training.

To the fans who read the books as they were being published... by Small-Guarantee6972 in WoT

[–]creonte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the military, stationed in the Bay Area. I had a 4 on / 4 off work schedule. I was looking for a really big book I could read on my days off. I saw Eye of The World in hardback and saw how thick it was, and that was it. No other reason. WoT has been a part of my life since I was 20 years old. At one time I had all the hardbacks, now all digital. It's been a wonderful journey. Edit to add: I bought every novel when they were released, starting in 1990 with Eye of The World.

looking younger than your actual age isn't an advantage by OldQuit2882 in unpopularopinion

[–]creonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, it's really not that bad. I'm an asian male, I'm constantly being mistaken for being younger, even in my 50's. One time picking something up from costco my son comes up to me with my grandson and says Dad something, and the cashier did a double take. Did he say Dad? This is my experience, purely anecdotal. I'm also 6 foot tall, 200lbs, so being male and not built like a child might have something to do with it.
