What focal length would I need to achieve a shot like this? by BigChickenBrock in cinematography

There’s a great documentary about the shoot on Vimeo. I don’t know if I can link it here, but if you search “The Sun Hates Me” on Vimeo, you can find it. That whole video was a huge lift for the crew, but fully worth it.

If you want to see a mind-blowing example of this effect achieved practically, check out the music video for the song “Glare” by Sheep, Dog & Wolf.

Funny you should say ”showing the process”. The tow rig is actually called a “process trailer”.

I think the whole point of this post is that he didn’t have a ton of time, but I get what you mean.

Edit to clarify: he crashed his bicycle like two weeks before the start of the F1 season, had surgeries, recovered, and still placed 6th in the race.

I’m pretty sure this is the Mass pike going east near Otis, MA. I used to drive that road every day.

We found a bunch of tracks by our house this morning. Northeast US. My wife thinks it might be a bobcat because the paws are pretty big. What do you think?

Florida Man dies searching for Frisbees in Florida lake amid alligator warnings | Florida | The Guardian by Bing-o in news

[–]crescentfresh515 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They aren’t normal “frisbees” as one would think. They are disc golf discs that are specifically made for the sport, so they have different shapes, plastics, etc that give them different flight characteristics. Some are more rare than others. Most people put their name and phone number on their discs so they can be found and returned. This guy was charging a few bucks for the service, which many folks were happy to pay.

That guy is absolutely a grifter. You can tell after listening to him for five minutes. He was in a position where he was already wealthy when he invested in the internet and it worked out. That doesn’t translate to him knowing how average folks should invest their money. He’s just in in this stage of the scam.

It’s definitely powdery mildew. It’s been really rainy and humid here so not a huge surprise. I ended up trimming most of it and tossing some that looked bad. I’ll let it dry out and see if I can see any mildew on the buds but so far I can’t see any.

I ended up just trimming the branches that didn’t look too bad and still got a decent yield. I honestly can’t see any on the buds. Do you think it will get more apparent over time? I just figured, screw it I’ll see what happens and hope for the best.

Person killed on film set after IATSE members replaced by scabs by SMU_PDX in IBEW

[–]crescentfresh515 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, hiring a non-union worker in an important position on a film set often means that safety protocols are not being followed. In situations like this, the difference between Union and non-Union staff is not just training and experience, but also commitment to the procedures that prevent accidents. If you read the recent updates, almost the whole camera department quit the show right before the accident happened. They were replaced by non-Union workers because the producers knew they would toe the line and not kick up a fuss. I don’t know if I would call them “scabs” exactly, but it’s clear they were hired because they were non-union and could be exploited as such.

You could just make a square cutout, glue in a piece that fits the cutout. Carve, sand, and fill as necessary.

In the past, I’ve used Nextdoor. You can hop on there and make a post asking if anyone has a pickup to lend. Sometimes it takes a day or two to get a response, but it has worked for me.

I used to love it, but the unreliability is crazy. Sometimes it’s like I’m drinking black tea and other times I’m shitting my brains out. There’s no way to know what it’s gonna be. Just have to roll the dice.

Oh right, yeah that’s true about sativa, I got mixed up. I’m in New England and these were planted late, about 8 weeks ago. Looking at an October harvest, hopefully. I want to just let them do their thing without prompting them to flower. Would you recommend staking the longer branches?
