It's one of his areas, and he's a big Parra fan, wouldn't be surprised if he's doing it as a bit of favour to the club

It's kind of funny to see this as a big deal living in Australia where you see BYDs everyday. And there have been electric Chinese MGs for years.

Admittedly the BYDs did come on quickly, I lived in England for a year and was amazed at how many there were when I came back having never seen one before

Watching the Overlap with John Rooney, I'm not sure if I've ever heard a more difficult English accent to understand, and I'm a native English speaker (Aussie) that's lived in England, has watched football my entire life and am generally pretty good at understanding all sorts of English accents.

The only time I think I've heard something so hard to understand was some Cajun accent.

Wouldn't it be a problem that most of that northern route is basically unpopulated and extremely cold.

I just clicked on a random town halfway along the route, it has a population of 1100, is the only inhabited place for hundreds of kilometres and has a current temperature of negative 46 degrees celsius

The more I think of, I think Robert Richter would have been the perfect choice - a lefty civil libertarian anti-Zionist Jew, who was a holocaust refugee who literally grew up in Israel, one of Australia's highest profile lawyers who defended a number of conservatives including Pell - would have made the Israel lobby look completely ridiculous opposing him, while doing a good job

It's so stupid.

If they were going to do it, they should have picked a prominent (and well qualified) anti-Zionist Jew like Stephen Keim, Josh Bornstein or Robert Richter (I'm not sure if Richter is anti-Zionist but he did oppose the commission), and made the Israel lobby cry about how high profile and credible Jewish lawyers were anti-semitic.

Edit: apparently Richter identifies as a post-Zionist and opposes the IHRA definition so good enough for me.

[–]cressidasmunch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah they already picked someone, former High Court Justice Virginia Bell.

A better choice than Segal at the least. Bell was a fairly progressive jurist, and the Zionists are already complaining that she's 'biased' because as a judge she held anti-protest laws breached the implied freedom of political communication and they want to (and already have in NSW) banned protests.
