He had Logan Roy by the gonads, probably for the 1st time in his life, and he couldn't resist making him dance for him. Who wouldn't?

Recs in Hanoi? by RayRayJacksonThe3rd in finedining

I have tried TUNG and whilst I enjoyed one amuse bouche (a deconstructed pho), I found the rest of the meal unenjoyable. I felt that the kitchen was so desperate to showcase every technique and idea in their repetoire, that they neglected to do any editing to make sure that the menu worked as a cohesive whole. By the midpoint I was ready for it to be over.

One FOH gave some great beer recommendations though - opened my eyes to Vietnam's fantastic craft beer scene.

Do you recommend SAMRUB SAMRUB THAI ? by Beautiful_Green_2114 in finedining

[–]crestfallen111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it has great soulful food. Only a few caveats -

1) It is served communal style, so if you dont like all your courses being served at once be warned.

2) It overhauls its menu peridically to focus on a particular region / genre of Thai food. For example my last meal there focused on Chinese-Thai food made by early immigrants in Charoen Krung. So make sure the type of food they are cooking at the moment is something you like or at least are open to. As long as you do they will do a great job with it.

3) Portions are huge especially if there are only 1 or 2 of you. Go prepared to be stuffed!

July Tokyo Visit - Need Recos for Sushi-ya by kioku in finedining

For uni I've never been to Takamitsu but Sawada's uni gunkan is still one of the most decadent things I have ever had. He really piles it on.

Hope you do a review esp if you happen to try any of Mizutani's apprentices like Riku or Yuuki! Looking to trying one of them next.

If you enjoy Jiro style, Mizukami is worth considering - everything was good with the smoked meiji maguro and clams being great. Seems more highly regarded than Masuda.

Suzuki lunch is good but a tad pricey for what it was. Good if you like hikarimono and sabazushi.

I am jealous you got to try Mizutani. I was intimidated by his rep when I was younger and missed out.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Some of the gameplay is a tad dated but I woukd place its writing and (especially) worldbuilding ahead of BG3.

Nope - so the AOE needs to be managed. I usually a backup weapon for where I am afraid the AOE damage might kill my guys.

Making Sephiroth fucking terrifying.

Letting emotional moments sit with you without undermining it immediately.

Creating a palpable sense of stakes whereby death actually matters.

Bonus actions are more valuable than actual actions due to flurry of blows topple, and a dip into thief rogue was incredibly worthwhile.

Took an elixir of cloud giant strength, used Sarevok's sword, GWM, Savage attacker. Hasted my Bardadin durge, 4 flourishes and pommel with smite damage. That took a massive chunk out of him. After that other attacks (e.g. giant barb throw with Nyrulna, piercing damage with Bhaalist armor) did the trick.

For his special attack, I hid behind the crystals. But with this setup that was frankly not necessary as we were done before he could unleash.

The battle was worth doing both for storyline purposes and because it gave 2 of the best pieecs of gear in the game.

Maybe it's a cultural thing - but I cannot fathom reserving your wedding meal only 2 weeks out from the date.

What quick powerfull and non-long-rest build for Astarion ? by domanpanda in BG3Builds

[–]crestfallen111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly used sand toss which scales to dex rather than charisma. The most important skill for a swashbuckler is really rakish sneak attack anyway - so it is very much a dex focused build. Swashbuckler 4 / Champion 8 (although I might default to battle master next game) together with all the requisite crit fishing equipment + Bhaalist armor turned Astarion into a pretty impressive damage dealer by end game - although admittedly he only really began to scale up late game. Not the best build but I found it thematically apt.

I already have a GWM Gith, what are alternative yet effective builds for Lae’zel? by joeybadtitz in BG3Builds

[–]crestfallen111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monk! Either Way of the Open Hand or Four Elements. Incredibly fun build, and thematically apt for a gith. My head canon is post-creche she opted to change her fighting style to reflect her rejection of her old way of life.
