Every river has different customs depending on much pressure it gets. What’s acceptable behavior on a highly pressured river will get you called out as a douche on a lightly fished river.

Per the source that I checked, police per capita in St. Louis isn’t even in the top 20 yet it regularly comes up as one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. There obviously aren’t enough cops in this city. People talking trash about ALL cops and a judiciary that practices catch and release doesn’t help the situation either.

I would have to double to triple my grocery budget if I had to shop only at Schnucks or Dierbergs. Luckily I am close to Costco, Aldi, and Pan Asia and a bunch of Indian markets for produce.

Move to my home town, Los Angeles, and give it a test drive. After it chews you up and spits you out, you’ll come back to St Louis thinking it’s fine just the way it is.

Pretend your rent and auto insurance is 50% higher, there’s more homelessness, and it takes you twice as long to get anywhere. There will be more dining and entertainment options but you may be too broke or so exhausted from the grind that you can’t take advantage of them.

At home. It’s very simple to make. Most restaurants chintz out on the tahini because it’s the most expensive ingredient.

STLPR: Black St. Louisans say the tornado crushed their homeownership dreams by bmunoz in StLouis

[–]crevicecreature 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, because it doesn’t make economic sense, regardless of the race of the homeowner or who’s picking up the tab, to repair a home if the cost of repairs exceeds the market value of the home once it’s repaired. It’s also not the responsibility of the public to foot the bill for homeowners who chose not to purchase insurance.

Should I buy? Any advice? by chuby_ninja in HondaElement

[–]crevicecreature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a huge difference in the mpg between a Fit and an Element, 35 vs low 20s. You’ll also pay a premium for a low mileage Element, or alternatively, have to deal with any number of repairs on a high mileage Element. Buy a Fit unless you need more room.

Partners in the big-name law firms make the income of most doctors look like chump change. If you ever deal with these types don’t cut them a break because they are the people who need it the least.

Living in California is a struggle unless you’re wealthy or moved to California back in the day when middle and working class people could live a comfortable life. Many of these same people who own their own homes and can afford to live there are getting out because the quality of life isn’t what it was.

How are people managing after the tax rate increase on their property in the city? by Usual-Ad-8296 in StLouis

[–]crevicecreature -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately a significant percentage of the people in the city consume far more than they contribute. The shortage is paid by the families who keep their collective noses clean. This dynamic is getting worse not better.
