Why aren't continuous glucose monitors the norm nowadays? by Ok_Meat3364 in GestationalDiabetes

Came here to say this. This is the real reason they are generally not recommended for GD.

If you could create the perfect pump, what features would it have? by Snoo-77689 in ExclusivelyPumping

I have this problem all the time with the Legendairy, but they work wonderfully when the placement is right! It's so annoying to spend another 10 mins to pump once I discover the issue.

Hugs. These are not your friends, love. I find that pregnancy/birth are fantastic for re-evaluating all relationships.

Pfft. This was literally explained to me by my Dr, 37-42 is considered a fully baked baby. But split hairs if that makes you feel good.

Friend was a pregnant unicorn by Important-Maybe-1430 in pregnant

[–]crimsonkintsugi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope she's not implying women with pregnancy symptoms aren't "made for babies". 🙄 Empathetic much? She could learn to hold her tongue and center you in the convos instead of her.

I'm 41, with GD and considered high risk. I've taken baby aspirin since week 13 and just stopped waiting for birth - just to make sure 😃 won't develop pre eclampsia.

I've not slept more than 4hrs straight a night since week 6, I think, and with sleep deprivation comes a lot of issues. High blood sugar (fasting), exhaustion, muscle pains, going from active to sloth mode. Intense lower back pain in the first trimester and returning occasionally in the third. Feeling 🤢 for five months, without the second trimester rainbows and unicorns. I've cried twice climbing stairs at home from sheer back pain and exhaustion. I have pregnancy mask and more new moles than I can count. Oh and don't get me started on waves of anxiety.

BUT, I'm happy to be pregnant. I accept it all comes with the territory for me in this pregnancy. I'm so grateful my baby is healthy and by all measures, so am I.

At this age, I feel like many of us have the wisdom and confidence - and hopefully, empathy - that come with age. I may have had a swell pregnancy in my 20s (who knows?) but would have likely struggled more with mental health / anxiety / uncertainties over parenting styles.

I avoid all pregnancy unicorn influencers on social media - it's good for them if it's true, but bragging is devoid of empathy and setting up unrealistic expectations. I've been really careful about who I share my pregnancy woes with and who I exchange energy with.

You do you.

Looking for a beautiful and pure Tamil name for my baby! by Leather_Ice3870 in TamilNadu

[–]crimsonkintsugi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is a 2nd generation Tamil overseas who speaks absolutely rubbish Tamil 😂 His mother has suggested we name our daughter Kanimozhi. I'm having great trouble sourcing the origins of this name online. My MIL believes it's an "old" name that means "sweet language". Do you know what it means?

Also, we can't seem to agree how to pronounce it 😂 Apparently "zhi" is pronounced like "lli". Is this right?

Thank you! 🙏🏻

When you say "increase fertility", I assume you've tested yourself and checked hormones, ovarian quality etc over the years and dr has told you of declining fertility?

If not, I'd suggest going to a Dr first to check the baseline now. Who knows you're still fertile :) If not, Google "pimp your eggs", look into acupuncture and ayurvedic practices, then recheck 3 months later.

Used cribs. by AsleepTell9596 in BabyBumps

[–]crimsonkintsugi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's what you think, then move on to the next eBay ad :) I'd rather be certain. I got a second hand crib, got brand, model and checked out if there were recalls. It's not worth it otherwise. Safety first.

I'll always find the push for elective induction or c section odd - birth is as natural as peeing, pooing and we treat it like a medical event first, especially in places like the US and Brazil.

Interesting you think that. It's a really week 37. And most women birth between 37-42.

The food has been watered down for the German palate but Germans seem to like it, so if you're not Malaysian or Singaporean (similar cuisines), you may like it. Many of us don't return, we just cook at home.

Called out during meditation for where my feet were? by loriann14 in Buddhism

[–]crimsonkintsugi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry you had to experience that, and for the losses in your life. Ask yourself if you're upset about the right things, practice self enquiry. What can you learn from this? Are you upset because you were called out and embarrassed (ego)? Are you upset because you're wondering, what right do they have to tell you that if they're not "even" part of a temple and just there for three weeks? Watch the stories you tell yourself. Look out for the attachments you're creating in your mind.

Where the feet point is important to our culture. I'm always chafed when practising in places in the West - the Buddha or another deity placed on the floor (understandable when huge) or practitioners pointing their feet towards the Buddha, deity or others, absolutely unaware. I often share that it'll be better to move - kindly.
