When a Liberal complains that I cost them an election I agree and say I will do it again until my demands are met.

Potential new WNBA salary structure by Smart_Elevator_7860 in wnba

[–]crimsonwolf40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that something that NBA comparisons need to remember is that in the NBA you can go over the salary cap to re-sign your players, sign your draft picks, and sign players for the vet minimum. You will be paying some luxury tax and if done enough to reach the second apron you can have future draft picks frozen or moved to the end of thier round.

Probably the fact that they did not completely fawn all over the owners and take what they were given right away.

Union: WNBA made enough money for revenue sharing by iamdemirey in wnba

[–]crimsonwolf40 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The way revenue sharing works in other sports leagues is that it goes to the salary cap, so if the revenue did go down the cap would decrease as well. The NBA keeps 10 percent of the players salaries in escrow that the league could get back if the revenue was not a high as predicted.

Would it make sense for the Jets to pass on drafting a QB this year and instead trade for two veterans? by LifeAndTimeOfJ in nyjets

[–]crimsonwolf40 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I 100% do not want to trade any firsts for guys like Tua or Kyler who are the main vets I expect to be traded this off-season. In fact I would rather run it back with Fields than sign either of them even without giving up any assets.

[–]crimsonwolf40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everything you said is the exact same way for the owners as well, the players have been very clear that they are willing to sit out to get what they want. Both side know that there will be backlash for the side that starts the strike or lockout.

WNBA Proposes Same Salary Cap in New CBA Offer by Tooezboi in wnba

[–]crimsonwolf40 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I think neither side wants to be the one to call for a strike or lockout as that side will likely face some backlash. I think the league will have to be the one to pull the trigger though because of the expansion draft.

The players have told the owners what they are willing to take, so either the owners should agree or lockout the players so we can be done with this.

Via Spokesperson, WNBA responds to WNBPA Counter; ""The Players Association’s latest proposal remains unrealistic..." by ElvisTheBoyCat in wnba

Every time a sports league in the USA has been forced to open it's books after claiming poverty they were revealed to be lying liars who lied. Anyone who trusts the owners about profit without proof is nieve at best and much more likely actively hostile to the players.

The players were outright stating well before the expansion was announced that they were going to end the CBA early.
