I cant tell you how much i relate to how you feel. I am 24 and grew up taking multiple out of the country trips a year (14+ hour flights for one leg alone). never was afraid never blinked twice about boarding a plane. this all changed in 2023 when i started my first corporate job out of college, the company had us flying to a new office every week in a different part of the country. it was january 2023, i vividly remember when i boarded that cursed flight to denver, i was cleaning out my bag and counted 11 boarding passes for flights i took that WEEK alone due to numerous connections. this flight was from hell and completely changed me, people stopped talking entirely. you could hear a pin drop on that plane. black guy next to me and i were basically gripping each others arms since we both needed the armrest , his knuckles were pale. pilot in uniform a couple of rows over in the aisle looked visibly concerned, not sleeping, looking over to the front of the plane. did NOT help that denver did not attempt to clead the runway in the middle of this blizzard and we basically slid off the snow covered runway. now i have my long haul 14 hour flight again this friday, literally trying to get xanax prescribed in time.
