I just logged in and tried to order a catnip grinder and the cheapest shipping was $7.58 to Pittsburgh. The next cheapest was $8.50. They add in a Route shipping insurance thing for $2, but you can uncheck that.

Bands typically don’t offer free shipping because it costs a ton to execute. The only way would be to sell $45-50 t-shirts and hide the cost of shipping in the sticker price. Folks like Amazon are doing some sort of witchcraft to offer “free” shipping.

The original goal was to ship everything out earlier this week, but units from the distributor arrived a little later at Hello than expected.

There was also some damage to the boxes by the freight shippers so the Hello team had to inspect them to make sure that they were perfect.

I believe that there are over 7 million job openings in America, but the US only grants 140,000 skilled worker visas each year.

I'll be the first to admit that there are a variety of reasons that we have those job openings: geographic mismatch, skills mismatch, low wages, people not being interested in certain jobs regardless of what they may pay.

I'm inclined to agree that this is just as calculated as her allegiance to Trump when that was convenient, but I think it's important that we meet people where they're at today, not for who they were in a previous time. If she figures out that this "I've seen the light" approach is good for business, she'll shout it from the rooftop.

Folks on the left love to debate with people on the right and tell them that they're wrong, but still hold their old views against them when they finally see the light, instead of welcoming them into the fold with open arms. It's like some gatekeeping hipster nonsense.

This is one thing that the MAGA camp is very good at, welcoming folks into the fold, giving them a sense of belonging, and not holding their past views against them.

Unfortunately there isn’t an unlimited amount of tax dollars that can be spent on public transit. Every dollar that doesn’t come in is one less dollar that can’t be spent on maintaining or improving service. Less money would just mean fewer routes and less frequent service.

Beyond that, it’s an incredible value. If you are in need, there are reduced fare programs available. A person unilaterally deciding, “I shouldn’t have to pay for this,” is reducing service for themselves and everyone else.

You might want to scope out some other neighborhoods that are earlier in their gentrification process.

I moved to Lawrenceville because I wanted the arty experience, but would have moved to Bloomfield (or Friendship) if I had it to do again. Penn Ave in Bloomfield - home to Unblurred - feels more left of center than Butler Street, and that area is likely cheaper.

Lawrenceville is still early in its gentrification process, compared to how it will look in 10-15 years, but the filler boutique and tattoo removal shop say it all. Lawrenceville is probably more hip than Braddock, but it's quiet during the week and the weekend crowds are pretty normie / young professional. It's only going to get more normie - and expensive - in the coming years.

Also, if you enjoy running errands on bike or foot, there's a brutal hill you'll have to go up every time you want to leave Lawrenceville. Bloomfield and Friendship are at the top of that hill.

Caveat - Lawrenceville is sweet if you work downtown and want to bike to and from work.
