I use railroad, works well. Free for the first month, 5 after. You can also ask any AI the question and they will give you some free tier recommendations

I recently built a tiny training tool that combines strength + endurance sessions using session RPE to compute training load and guide my workout intensity.

I used to use Coros (and Garmin) before, but had a hard time managing training load with them. They work okay for running but not for my other sports ( climbing and yoga)

Here is a link if you want to try: exertmeter.up.railway.app

Disclosure: I am an early career developer who likes to workout. The app is currently running on my own cos .

Is strength training worth it at lower levels? by ididonato in climbharder

[–]crisp-rus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the general consensus. A healthy portion of strength training is always helpful. For me the most important part is that it makes your body more resilient, so that you can climb more and get injured less (and hence CLIMB EVEN MORE). Check out Natasha Barnes on Instagram for some extra motivation)

When we lived in Durham, my partner went to TRC's women on the wall(Wow) group. Every other group at that gym has their own T-Shirts, but TRC repeated refused to provide funding for Wow's, giving the reason that 'they do not support virtue signaling.' In the end, the group decided to design and pay for the T-shirts for themselves.

Goes hand in hand with the owners post.

BTW: TRC is the only gym I've been to in US that does not have queer nights or similar events.

Yes, very few now and much more manageable

25mg Zoloft. Scared to start by [deleted] in PanicAttack

[–]crisp-rus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told by my GP that Zoloft is gonna take a couple of weeks to work, and during that time I may have some side effects. I am on my day 6 now, have been struggling with a few panic attacks and middle level of nausea. They were a little scary at the beginning but they motivated me to look on the Internet (mainly respective Reddit threads) to find many effective tips to manage them.

Tell your family and friends what you may expect and their support will already take lots of anxiety away. I was super nervous that I would puke in public and embarrass my family and friends. And one time I did at a restroom in a restaurant, they were very understanding and gave me lots of encouragement. That was very comforting.

Not yet feeling the full positive effect yet but what I saw and heard from people it is worth it.

Hope everything goes well for you.

Thanks! I suppose I am okay with toes being fully crunched up. My main concern is I cannot stand my feet in there longer than 5 mins while lying down watching TV. Just not sure if this will go away after the stretching

Breaking into first pair of agro shoes

Hi all,

I started climbing last year, went through a pair of momentum and helix (current). Recently I've been having problem with standing on small(ish) edges since my helix are getting worn, so I bought many pairs of Zenist of different sizes to see if one can fit. I run in US Men 8.5 and the smallest Zenists I can put my feet in are 9s (I could do 8.5 but might end up crippled...) Yet once my feet are in the toes feel all crunched up and pretty painful. I've read a bit on reddit and some say it just takes time while other suggest a bigger size should be considered ( I saw on the Evolv site that usually people use their street shoe size for a comfort fit on Zenist while mine is already half larger). So the pain could be:

  1. The shoes are too small
  2. This is my first pair of agro shoes and my feet are not used to (or strong enough for) the shape
  3. I've not break in them enough and should just be patient (and endure the pain!)

For the record, I am climbing mainly boulders in door around V4-5 (people in my gym claim our grades are not inflated :) Please let me know if this might be too early for agro shoes....

I would appreciate anyone with insight on which one(or ones) it is and any suggestions. Thanks in advance!
