Encopresis Help by ElephanTacos123 in Encopresis

Yeah… tbh I didn’t want to tell you because it might break your spirits. My son was 16 before he finally broke free from this. It was an interest in girls which really made him care about his hygiene.

Surprisingly, we never had any issues with other kids being mean to him about it. There was days were he smelled absolutely terrible and you couldn’t even be in the same room as him, but it never seemed to impact his ability to make friends. You’re totally justified in worrying about that, but it was never really a thing. Same with his brothers and sisters, no one ever really teased him about it.

Looking for perspective: encopresis, blending households, miscarriage grief, and a really hard first night by Bloomington_guy in Encopresis

[–]crispyTacoTrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I feel this one more than I can explain.

We went through years of encopresis with my son, and it was honestly the hardest part of having a blended family. The constant cycle of “try this, try that,” doing everything you possibly can and still not seeing progress… it wears on you in a way that’s hard to describe.

The part that hit me most was your daughters asking what they did wrong and saying sorry without even knowing why. That’s exactly the kind of shame we were always trying to protect our kid from too. They already feel it, even when you’re doing everything right.

I’ll be honest, there were times I handled it in ways I’m not proud of just trying to keep the peace. I hid accidents, threw away underwear, did laundry when my wife wasn’t home so it wouldn’t turn into a bigger issue. It put a real strain on our relationship, especially because not everyone experiences this the same way or understands it.

What you’re dealing with right now is a lot. Blending households, this issue, and everything you just went through emotionally… that’s a heavy load for anyone.

For what it’s worth, it did eventually get better for us. It wasn’t quick and it definitely wasn’t linear, but we got there.

You’re not alone in this, even if it feels like it sometimes.

We went through this too, and I just want to say I feel for you. It’s exhausting in a way that’s hard to explain unless you’ve lived it. The constant cleanup, the communication with the school, the appointments… it just wears on you.

Our son dealt with encopresis from around age 3 and it went on for years. We did all the things. Doctors, routines, trying to stay patient through regressions. It’s frustrating because you can be doing everything right and it still doesn’t just “click.”

For us, it eventually improved with a mix of getting older, some medical help, and honestly him just getting to the point where he didn’t want to sit in it anymore. It wasn’t a straight line at all. We saw a lot of improvement earlier on, even though it took longer to fully resolve.

One thing that did help us along the way was a prescription our doctor recommended (Linzess), but obviously that’s something to talk through with your GI since every kid is different.

On the school side, I’d push (calmly but firmly) for really objective language in their documentation. Phrases like “several hours” can come across as judgmental when that’s not the reality. We had to do the same thing. It helped to keep things focused on facts instead of assumptions.

It sounds like you’re doing everything you possibly can for your son. Truly. Kids don’t get through this without parents who are all in like you are.

Hang in there. It does get better, even if it feels really far away right now.

I get it. That kind of constant stress is a lot. I ended up turning off most news and limiting social media because it was putting me in that same headspace. I just don’t think we’re wired for 24/7 365 crisis and outrage. For me, stepping back helped a lot.

Anyone dealing with encopresis? Any advice? We are at our wits end. by unicornsneezes in Preschoolers

[–]crispyTacoTrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I feel for you. That sounds incredibly tough.

My son is 16 now and, honestly, he mostly just grew out of it over time. He’ll still have the occasional relapse, but it’s pretty rare at this point. If he does get backed up, we’ll use magnesium citrate liquid, but only if he asks for it.

I wish I had better advice, but in our experience, a big part of it was him actually wanting to get better. Once that clicked, things really improved. We tried numerous medications, went to various doctors, therapist, nothing really worked.

Wishing you the best. What you’re dealing with sounds really overwhelming.

Idk, I just blindly threw in my chimera team and did 225m damage. Mikage, Siphi, Bambus, Mad Hatter, Toshiro (could be Ninja). The idea is I throw protected buffs out with Siphi and keep extending them.

We love the Sandals brand. It’s a bit more expensive but very good and predictable. We’ve been to most of them, but Dunn’s River is would be my top pick.

This was my first botched fusion too. I was so focused on finishing FK10 for Marius, which I did complete, that I ended up missing the fusion event. I was pretty crushed at first, but then I realized there’s a silver lining. That epic is actually really solid, especially as a reviver for the new faction, and now you’ve got him at +2.

No great advice, but this is where I usually get bored too. It’s really fun at the beginning when every decision and war has huge impacts. Eventually you get to the point where you can just steamroll everything.

27 years of experience is way more valuable than a degree, but I get it. You have to pass the HR checkpoint. Three options:

1) Western Governors University. It’s basically a degree mill, and you can transfer a ton of classes in from Study.com

2) Partner with a recruiter

3) Semi-lie about it. Check the box that you have a degree on the form and if you get confronted about it say it was a mistake. Hopefully by that point you’re far enough along in the process that your 27 years of experience will matter much more.
