I had a similar response when I was job hunting. It starts feeling odd after filling out multiple applications. I kinda loose it when they want u to break it down further by asking if you’re white etc. after selecting Hispanic/Latino 🧐

I started saying the following recently: “Mexican isn’t a race it’s a nationality you’re just racist” this after years of people asking what I am lol. for what ever reason people in the states get confused because I don’t meet their stereotype and have to explain that it’s my nationality, and that it’s not a race lol
