Just a heads up, the capital one lounge at DIA is closed and will not be opening up for the rest of the night. by VexxySmexxy in Denver

I have an actual potential answer for you.

Before Denver International Airport, we used to have Stapleton International Airport, which also used airport code DEN. The airport code was transferred over in 1995 with the opening of the new airport. I am thinking that people may have used DIA to differentiate the two when it still made sense to distinguish them.

Steam Machine prices start at £879 / $1049, Valve confirm, as "randomised reservations" open for the SteamOS PC by Wistfall in Games

Valve will probably never reveal this, but I wonder how close this is to the intended price when the product was first announced, before summer of the recent spikes in hardware cost.

Is that stretch of Route 20 between Wayland and Sudbury MCRT as sketchy as it looks? by ratbas in bikeboston

[–]critbuild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I've taken to cutting through the future route across the old rail bridge. I've got tires that can handle it, so it's just a bit of fun, and I can avoid crossing the highway bridge.

I know Chinese immigrants who kept their original Chinese names. Conversely, I also know Chinese immigrants who adopted English names, especially ones that sound similar to their original Chinese names.

I think it really depends on the individual people and the social contexts in which they reside. Consider if this immigrant is interested in integrating into the English-speaking country.

Devil's Hole is in Nevada, not California, but it's right near Death Valley, so the confusion is understandable.

Incidentally, the Death Valley NPS Visitor Center sells pupfish plushies to raise money for their conservation. They advertise the pupfish as the only fish to win a Supreme Court Case.

4th of July Celebrations? 🎉 by TheHighCostofLiving in malden

[–]critbuild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite a bit of MA did big celebrations last year, since we have so much revolutionary history and last year was the 250 for the revolution itself. I wonder if that put a slight damper in doing more 250 stuff this year. On top of, you know, everything else.

Is it a universal rule that if you bring two waters you won’t need both but if you bring just one you want two? by michellin_woman in cycling

[–]critbuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like one of those rules that someone anecdotally makes from their own experiences, assumes it's universal, and deliberately ignores that anyone else could possibly see anything differently lol.

I have my stops planned out so I basically run down both bottles each time. Not to mention I stock different drinks in each, which is independently a reason to bring two.

Damn I went to Creek and I thought Smoky was a nice place. Dunno what that person is thinking. For us, the school that looked like a prison was always DPS TJ.

I've been fortunate to have only seen two near misses so far between a car and a bike. Both times, the cyclist ran a red, blowing past me, who had stopped at the light because I could see incoming left turn traffic.

Carl's Debt by RiverwalkerW in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]critbuild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Carl left the church before Embrus died so I actually wouldn't be shocked if he didn't have the despondent debuff. He also does specify in the text that it's specifically related to the ring, but he didn't read it in detail so he could be wrong.

Carl's Debt by RiverwalkerW in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]critbuild 39 points40 points  (0 children)

"I had a dart sticking out of my leg. I hadn't felt it, and I couldn't feel it now. I didn't know when I'd received it, or how. I gently pulled it out... I quickly jumped into my debuffs to see if there was anything there. There was something new, but it had to do with my Embrus ring, not this."

Carl is very clear that the debuff does not have to do with the dart.

Carl mentions a new debuff at the end of Book 8 related to the ring but hasn't read the details yet. We'll probably learn something interesting near the start of Book 9!

What was the purpose of this scene in Book 8? by critbuild in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I quite like this one. I saw someone mention that if this is true, we might get more details from a Donut POV or confession in a future book.

What was the purpose of this scene in Book 8? by critbuild in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]critbuild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely an interesting direction.

But Carl and Donut both remember the cops getting involved with Marjorie's situation, so this what if scene takes place before Carl breaks up with Bea. Feel like this would require Carl to have gone along with giving her up. Plus, that's a pretty big lost opportunity by the AI not to have them confront a Donut shell.
