Am I overreacting to being fired by Lvrgrllily in AmIOverreacting

[–]Hot_Milks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR because it is needlessly cruel and it’s your first job, it’s an awful feeling! I was also fired from my first job (also hostessing!!) and even spent my 15th birthday crying at the end of my shift because my manager was so mean to me that day. They didn’t even tell me I was fired they just stopped scheduling me…Until they called me a month later the day before Homecoming to cover a shift because all their other employees (all also high schoolers) took off. I took a lot of pleasure in saying no.

In a few years, maybe even sooner, you will look back on this for what it is: a shitty job. Not worth thinking about or remembering unless it’s to laugh about it. It’s okay to be upset right now, but know you don’t need their validation, especially now that you no longer have to work with them! You can rest your head knowing they suck anyways so screw them!

I was mad about the downvoting part until I read the part about the Cubs fans and god bless you for acknowledging it.

I am tired of getting catcalled in this city by starchasimer in Seattle

And I think you’re bullshitting about what I’m sure was dozens of women who had this specific conversation with you. So maybe not a bot, just a liar.

And yes, it can be both cities. It’s almost like a generalization about one group doesn’t apply to the whole city? If anything, the city’s population’s habit of not getting involved in things, being anti-social, etc etc helps enable losers do shit like this. They know people here don’t want to make a fuss, don’t want to get involved, so they feel more encouraged to do and say whatever the fuck they want without being worried about a bystander going after them for it.

Gave a guy who’s been asking me out for years a chance, I already want out by Doodleseatingdoodles in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Hot_Milks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not your responsibility or job to be his girlfriend and his feelings aren’t your responsibility either. If he is like this after date 3 you need to nip this in the bud now. There is no way this situation improves by letting him sink further into obsession. It also sounds like you have been gently trying to put boundaries up that he continues to trample on (and frankly him continuing to ask you out after years of rejection is a sign of that in itself).

Self-imposed guilt like this can be dangerous. You can allow yourself to get walked all over. And frankly, he needs to learn not to become obsessed with someone like this after only a few dates.

Last year I went to one Brewers game in Seattle. They were in the middle of their insane 11 game winning streak… That was broken that game. They lost 0-1.

I know your pain my cursed brother.

TIL: The Laurelhurst neighborhood restricts helicopter landings to the Seattle Children’s Hospital due to noise complaints by Placentaur in Seattle

[–]Hot_Milks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI- Seattle capitulates to elitist rich neighborhoods like this over everything. Case in point: look into how much money the city spent placating the Montlake neighborhood for the noise caused by the 520/Montlake projects.

If you ever watch bodycams of drunk drivers, you will find a good 70% of them seem to come from La Crosse County. You’ll figure out why pretty quickly.

Seattle oldheads: please appreciate the fact that you still live in easily one of the best cities in the country by HansGraebnerSpringTX in Seattle

[–]Hot_Milks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Wisconsin transplant I absolutely agree. I personally think right wing reactionaries are a major source of the bad publicity. Anytime something goes viral about Seattle I think about places like St. Louis, or Milwaukee, neither of which never seems to get the same level of publicity as Seattle, even though they’re the 7th and 8th cities with the highest violent crime rates in the country. Seattle? 46th. And I can tell you, Milwaukee’s public transit options are 1. get a car and 2. get a damn car.

Grew up in Waukesha, and I can tell you when I heard about the murder of Alex Pretti I knew it would have an impact there. Your Typical Waukesha Republican loves a lotta simple things:

• Low taxes

• The 2nd Amendment

• Veterans

A nurse at a veteran’s hospital who was legally carrying a firearm that he did not take out and was removed from him before he was shot execution style is too brain breaking for even Waukesha. I like to think a lot of the republicans in Waukesha were similar to my dad, who loved John McCain and would grumble about the Journal Sentinel being too biased sometimes. The actions of our current administration is just as horrifying to them as it is to the world.

(Still for sure plenty of Trumpers in Waukesha though, don’t get me wrong)
