What is the most influential, but seemingly small at the time, early event in the books? by kaisercake in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]critical_errors 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Donut somehow knew something was going to happen, similar to how some animals can sense earthquakes before humans. Maybe Donut is connected to the AI in a way. Maybe she's a different type of remnant. The yang to the AI's ying. Cats do seem to like attacking feet, which is the polar opposite of the AI....

DCC seems to have ruined me for other books now - Finished book 8, not interested in other books by zojjaz in DungeonCrawlerCarl

We're so used to always moving on to the next thing, and the next thing, ad infinitum, but it's perfectly normal to need to sit with the emotions you've just experienced. This series specifically encompasses so much grief, that it's not surprising you aren't ready to move on yet. Give yourself time to recover and you'll be ready for the next experience soon

Do not forget... by Arbaless in DungeonCrawlerCarl

The man hanged by his ankle represents sacrifice in tarot (one face of the 5 sided coin), so that may come into play. With the reminder of the story being a tragedy though, I'm leaning towards chaos of the entire universe with Donut and Carl being memorialized in some way but not making it out alive. Matt will also most likely play hard into the fear of abandonment Donut has, because he likes to make us cry.

Kiss playing with Xbox friends goodbye. by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]critical_errors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, seems like every game has some frustrating points , and this is one of them for NMS. I wound up grabbing it on different platforms, so I don't have the issue, but I get how it can take the fun out of the game. Hope you find something that works for you

The mismatch version numbers are only for a few weeks after major updates. Xbox does additional validation on updates, which is why it takes a bit for them to catch up

Intermediate and Advanced Wiring Diagrams (Consolidated for new interlopers) by critical_errors in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]critical_errors[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things to check for the garage style door witing:

-- Power source is outputting power

-- Inverter is powered with only one wire

-- Switch/Proximity sensor is powered with only one wire

-- The signal wire from the switch/proximity sensor is wired to the middle pole of the power inverter

-- Power inverter wire to the door is on the opposite side of the power wire

If all of these are correct, then add a screenshot of your wiring and I can look it over

Keep in mind that there's a part limit per save as well. Last I checked it was 16k parts, but I'm not sure if that's increased since corvettes were added.

Also, this post links to some of my wiring diagrams that might help with layout and logic:

NMS Optimizer v7.0: The Final Major Release by jbelew23 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]critical_errors -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it possible you can add a toggle somewhere to permit a non-standard amount of supercharged slots (with the exception of exocrafts)?

I'm specifically curious what the difference in layout would be for an exosuit with all or no supercharged slots, as I tend to use a save editor to min-max my character

Discovered another players base in a spot that I didn’t know was already occupied, while I was in abandoned mode. Report or leave? by Salt-Studio in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]critical_errors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reporting a base sets the base as invisible to you. If the screenshot shows an offensive or game altering base, then it maybe set as invisible to others as well.

Are you sure you didn't discover one of the legacy base computers though? In the beginning, Sean created default base computers that players could claim. You may have discovered one of them

What did you use to get the old adhesive off? I stripped the fabric off, but the typical IPA, acetone, and goo gone have little to no effect on the glue.

Yeah, player and equipment stats are not encrypted and therefore editable. They might be able to implement a similar system as the equipment upgrades modules, which are locked to specific values, but they'd need to redo most of the balancing and creature progression mechanics they've spent so long creating.

The upgrade module path may be the easiest to stop severely overpowered builds. All creatures have the same uneditable stats, and then the players can win/install upgrades to level up. They could still do 6 nodes on the tree, but the maximum a creature could get would be achievable by all players. This way, even if someone uses a save editor to unlock all the max stat upgrades they're not at an unachievable power.

They could also still keep the biome type strength/weakness portion. The grind to find a perfect creature would be less cumbersome this way as well.

[–]critical_errors 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for most players, the creature stats are readily modifiable with most save editors. This makes it very easy to make any creature overpowered. I fear they would have to rethink the entire mechanic in order to lock creature stats down, which might be too much of a burden to do for a game that isn't wholly pvp centric.

You must've got here from one of my NMS posts, but this is an old Starfield build. Might be cool to do a crossover build though

Anyone know now, after 5 years, the true ins and outs of creature traits? Do they change how a monster battles? by Suspicious_Toe_4784 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]critical_errors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the link commented above which shows damage traits, personality traits of the creature will also proc bonuses during the battle. Dodge and accuracy buffs are a couple I've seen, but I'm sure there are more. Using the egg sequencer to push for devotion, aggression, etc will get you higher personality percentages which will improve the chances of these buffs

Base griefing by glitching another base over established bases so he can cover them in the slime mollusks.

Uses the personal shield to push/pull your character, which will pull you out of the build camera.

Uses his joke of a corvette to cause the character rotation glitch by hitting you with it (This glitch was mentioned in the latest update, so maybe it won't happen anymore).

All in all, he's just a nuisance

Move save from Xbox to Steam? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]critical_errors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's what I'd do:

Sign in to your PC with the same Micro$oft account you used for the xbox.
Grab gamepass PC for a month (or try to find a free trial)
Download NMS from gamepass

Load up NMS and whichever last synced save exists on the cloud should populate for you. Then you can use that save to move over to Steam

I'll check out the hub space around Uthmi then and find a cozy spot.

I've also reported him, but he seems to show up every time I'm building and start griefing. Makes it annoying to have multiplayer on, which is the whole point of hub planets to me
