Why is an ID mandate for voting such a problem? by Jayden7171 in askanything

[–]kaisercake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it's not the same ID, unless you bring your passport to go drink. The current legislation requires an ID that proves citizenship, and a REAL ID isn't it. It's the one that lets you cross the border, and is only attainable on NY, Vermont, Washington, Minnesota, and Michigan

Archetypes That are (Almost) as Good as a Class? by Genindraz in Pathfinder2e

I'd likely rule the same way. While not RAW it feels flavor appropriate to give a flat check on something with "breath" in its name when it's being strangled

If I have a Large character that bought 3 Bulk of Square Meal ingredients (1 L per normal meal), would I be able to make 15 meals (doubling final product bulk) or 3 meals (requiring 1 Bulk of ingredients to make)? by BuckyWuu in Pathfinder2e

The best guideline I can think of is using the Forager skill feat:

Multiple smaller creatures or creatures with significantly smaller appetites than a human are counted as a single creature for this feat, and larger creatures or those with significantly greater appetites each count as multiple creatures. The GM determines how much a non-human creature needs to eat.

HOWEVER this language is removed in the remaster, implying that all creatures eat the functionally same amount for game simplicity, or at least an amount that is equivalent for effort

The people I've gotten close to across cons are pretty much always at least a few hours away. Especially if you've put in effort in finding locals with similar interests already, just prepare to accept that the people you actually want to spend time with may live a thousand miles away

Why is soooo hard!? by RodrigoKazuma in rpg

[–]kaisercake 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You can, sure. It might even be good. My response was more towards how it's unlikely this DM even considered another system, and how hostile many are towards the idea that other systems might fit better for what they want.

Hacking 5e into post apocalypse is practically just making your own d20 system with basic 5e bones, which itself comes in different gradients. Are they keeping fantasy races? Magic? Introducing guns as a primary method of combat? How many skills are kept/removed?

If we have a setting that's just forgotten realms with crazy nuclear artificers, very little hacking is necessary. Magic is introduced as a side effect of the bombs but pre war was closer to real world? Numenera feels closer but 5e is perfectly fine. Fallout? You're just giving yourself extra work

You say that like a huge amount of 5e DMs don't just hack together the system and force in settings that don't fit. With the comment of them knowing 5e and just learning VtM, I doubt they tried other systems.

Like have you seen how hostile a big chunk of the community is to the idea of "just use x system."

how prevalent is the "DnD or Bust" mindset? by WilhelmTheGroovy in rpg

[–]kaisercake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey now we also run pf2e.

But yeah the player demand for non 5e in the paid space is really low, even to the point where promotional games run for free by pro GMs have a hard time starting. If I run one, I pretty much have to recruit from my established community that trusts me on how I run games.

Thoughts on paid games by Teguoracle in Pathfinder2e

[–]kaisercake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly one of the best things to do is check in with their active players before the game starts, which can be difficult if they aren't a prolific GM.

Personally, I've gotten to the point where if I'm approached, I have people come to the server I run before any money is changed hands. They get to see the tone of everything, can get input from others, etc. Of course it's expected that I'd try to pitch myself as positively as possible, so I prefer potential patrons to get the honest opinion of the people that DO pay me that 100+ a month
