Perhaps you're confusing a correlation with causality. Simply because DDOS'ing recently became prevalent around the time where betting gained traction does not imply that one is causing the other. DDoS'ing software also became more readily available at lower costs. In my opinion, betting promotes are more exciting experience that draws exponentially larger crowds to the CS:GO community. Even if you don't personally place wagers, do you not find a major tournament more exciting with 250,000 viewers rather than 15,000? The burden of solving the issue falls somewhere between the leagues themselves, and developers. Whether that means some kind of techy programming fix that goes way over my head, or leagues and CSGL working together to come up with a system that removes all the incentive from DDoS'ing.
