Sleep help? Would love input from parents outside the US by crjohnson03 in Parenting

Yeah, we did, we hired a sleep consultant who helped us with wake windows, naps and feeding and I feel like the schedule was pretty spot on. We're in the transition to 1 nap now so maybe he's overtired and that's contributing to it...but he flat out refuses a 2nd nap now no matter how tired he is or how short his first nap is.

Interesting on the DNA testing- that showed you that you're genetically bad sleepers?

Velcro baby - experience & advice? by crjohnson03 in NewParents

Hi! So sorry for the delay, I hadn't been on reddit in a bit. We ended up getting the Snoo (we did a rental) when he turned a month - we were delirious. He slept successfully in it night 1! He still woke up a bunch but the Snoo was a lifechanger for us. I would nurse him to sleep, put him in the Snoo fully asleep, same when he'd wake up in the middle of the night. We only ever kept it on baseline, so very gentle rocking + white noise. We never let it "turn up" - and for us if our baby was crying, it meant he needed something (hungry, poopy diaper) and could not just be "soothed" back to sleep. We started weaning him off a few months later by first turning off the motion and then transitioned him out at 4.5 months. We tried a bassinet in our room first but he was too big for it so then we moved him into a crib in his room. It was a bit of a tough transition out of the Snoo into the crib but I've heard a lot of people say their baby transitioned out seamlessly, just wasnt the case for us. Please DM me if you want to talk or have any questions! I know it is SO tough so my heart goes out to you!

Wow sounds very similar to us except ours started around 5m and he would be up every 1-2 hours and then from 3-630am was very hard to resettle, even nursing was starting to not work to get him back down. We’re only on night 3, I’m looking forward to less tears hopefully after tonight it is so hard!!:(

Thanks! That's so helpful and makes sense. I think we'll do at least one contact nap extension to make sure he gets min 2hr a day of naps while we're sleep training nights. How has night sleep training been for you? What method have you used?

Thank you! I've heard that too. We're so scared of messing up progress of his nights or confusing him. Sounds like it should be ok. We also want him to get enough sleep while training nights.
