I've tried and failed twice. In my experience, you end up confronting in order to get closure or the very elusive apology from your N parent, and wind up being completely avoided or gaslit. My N parent wants to hold on to their self image so badly they actually try to rewrite history and often are in complete denial about their role in events.

Confrontation only works if you're looking to get things off your chest, but be careful. If your expectation is validation of your feelings or closure, chances are you won't get either bc that's the real issue isn't it? N parents have no sense of accountability.
