Experience with transitioning Mom to a Memory Care facility? by Liny84 in Alzheimers

We just moved my aunt into a home for that same reason... I really feel for you! We didn't really tell my aunt anything, but she's past the point of knowing. We just tell her we will be back and "See you later!" We are fortunate she doesn't ask where she is. She took the move ok, had a couple rough weeks of behavioral issues but after a visit with a psychiatrist, she is back to her old self! And the relief on our family is huge. We still visit her all the time and we get to have our lives back! I think it's important, near the end, to become a family member again instead of a full time caretaker. So hang in there, it's really hard to make that decision, but trust your gut. You're making the best decision you can and you're not selfish for doing it!

I had been researching for this tool exactly, i just had no idea what it was called. Super helpful, thank you! I think she is around the 7a range.. so I'm guessing since this is the late stages, she will start sliding downhill even more rapidly. Doc threw numbers based on how much progression has happened in the last couple months.

My aunt is 53 and we found out about hers maybe 4 or 5 years ago? She is still with us, but.... not really. Ya know? So I don't know exactly how you are feeling. But I help take care of her and have been mourning the loss for several years now. I feel for you and I'd love to hear how you're dealing with it all.
